How Silvopasture improves pasture
Silvopasture (Latin, silva forest) is the practice of integrating trees, forage, and the grazing of domesticated animals in a mutually beneficial way. It utilizes the principles of managed grazing, and it is one of several distinct forms of agroforestry.
The benefits of silvopasture include:
Diversified income for farmers of livestock and timber, fruits, nuts, forage, etc
Reduced need for nitrogen fertilization in grass/legume silvopastures
Recycled nutrients from animal wastes benefit forage and tree growth
Delayed forage maturity in the fall and earlier green-up in the spring
Improved cover and forage for wildlife

Getting trees going in open pasture is much harder than turning forest into silvopasture. The magic is finding the spots your trees will like.
Great info! I'd love to speak with someone more about this! I'm working on setting up a Silvo-pasture here in the Arizona desert. I just started growing some Moringa trees to add to the area.
Consider installing a Screech Owl nest box. Owls eat rodents which host ticks and attract pit vipers.
