Okay, so I have a huge confession. I went on a few dates with a girl named Katie in 2022. I watch a lot of KZread and told her about Chicken Shop Date and Hot Ones. For my birthday, Kate made me a chicken shop date box. FELT AND EVERYTHING! I still have it. It has two chicken drumsticks in it made from dog toys. When I was given it, I always felt like I should make a tweet or a TikTok about it but I've never wanted it to be a viral thing on the internet. But this feels like the perfect time to tell the world. Big ups Katie! Big ups Amelia. Big ups Naomi. 🐔🍗

As someone who's produced TV talk shows forever (I worked at Fallon for nearly 12 years), I've been insanely impressed by Chicken Shop Date which, in the same vein as Hot Ones, really took talk shows into the next generation and I think makes something really, really special. I think the thing Bobbi Althoff doesn't manage to do as well as Amelia is the fact that she's endlessly charming & her awkwardness in the interview doesn't feel like she's pretending to be superior or above the people she's "dating" but rather just her personality. You never feel like Amelia isn't on some level interested in who she's talking to, which is nice. Bobbi takes it too far LOL

I genuinely feel like Bobbi doesn’t know what she’s doing. I could understand she has her own humour and the uncomfortable nature is I guess the point? But I feel like she’s just genuinely bad at interviewing her guests. She’s not witty at all and even in her rudeness it isn’t appealing in any way..I can’t understand it.

I love how Amelia goes over her stories. You can tell how passionate she is about her work/journey/art. Most of all, you can tell how passionate she is about not gatekeeping anything. She’s really the type to outdo herself and help others along the way instead of focusing on what others are doing/letting outside noise affect her. I love how she was self aware enough to find the right work life balance (for herself), to prioritize her creation vs what would get her easy money (not that there’s anything wrong with that), etc. She’s so true to herself. That realness and authenticity very clearly comes out in the work that she puts out. You can’t help but be a fan of her work ethic &/or content (even beyond ChxShop). Just love her 🐔🍗❤️

Thanks for this interview. I’ve always loved Amanda’s quirky little show. For me it is by far the most British thing in the universe - the dry humour, the uptightness(?), and ofc, the chicken shop, the most quintessential British establishment imo. To know that amidst all the success, CSD is still kept essentially independent has made me appreciate the show even more and have so much respect for her as a creative. CSD is basically the A24 of KZread content.

I love Amanda and now have learned about Colin and Samir! I am 68 years old, growing up in the 60's and 70's was very interesting but, I find young people these days fascinating.

You guys should get Matt Rife on the show ... another person who majority think was an overnight success . Also its amazing how he crowdfunded his Special, Going to definitely be amazing for aspiring artists and creatives.
