How Scouts BSA Troop is Structured

This video is an overview of the dynamics of a Troop and the inner workings of the four main parts that make up a Troop. The Chartered Organization and its representative, the Troop Committee, the Scoutmaster Corp, and then the final group is the Scouts themselves. Each group works hand in hand to help the Scout keep "Ranking-Up" and hopefully achieve the Rank of Eagle.

Scouting is designed to create leaders. Today’s youth needs the BSA more today than ever. Equally important is the participation of a parent with their scout in the troop/unit. Scouting molds today’s youth into tomorrow’s productive citizens. A parent will spend quality time with their child camping, enjoying the outdoors, and exposing these kids to opportunities to plan, think, organize, and execute their role as a team member or leader which will be critical in their post high school education or job. I’ll take an Eagle Scout any day knowing what he/she had to do to earn that rank. Parents, you have no idea how important it is to actively participate in the organization with your child. You will not regret it.

Thanks so much for you comment, you are correct on all counts. It also means a lot to the Scout if the parent just attends the meeting and hangs out. It shows the Scout the parent cares. There is so much quality time that the parent and Scout have together in Scouting that you just can't get back. I am in awe each time I've witnessed a Scout make it to Eagle and remember when he joined the troop, the transformation is truly amazing.
