How Scooter Braun Went From Promoting Parties to Building An Entertainment Empire

Scooter Braun is a visionary for the self-made, social media age. After catching the eye of Jermaine Dupri as the hottest young party promoter in Atlanta, Braun signed and diligently broke Asher Roth and Justin Bieber. He went on to manage a bevy of global pop stars to expand his company into other facets of entertainment and to weather some very public storms, all while gathering a following as big as some of his acts.

"The mistake of youth is thinking that the mentors you need are older than you: that you should work hard on getting in a room with some powerful person because that's what's going to change your life. I wonder why this is. Even in the UK, a lot of successful rappers' managers are just their inexperienced peers from college or around the way and they end up being big hits. It happens too often to be a fluke. Still, i'd never let my best friends manage me 🤣

I met Scooter at a release party in New York in late 2017. I saw him in the crowd, approached him and told him he had inspired me to organize a show to fundraise money for relief efforts after Mexico's earthquake. We shook hands, and he told me the story of how he had found and signed the lead singer of Spencer Lee Band when he was homeless. I never thought he would've taken the time to talk in such a busy night. He was the most accessible and humble guy there. As inspiring as he is in interviews like these.

I've seen & done many interviews over the years and this one by far is my favorite simply because he kept it authentic and real, he is so right there's people out there that are going to want to see you fail miserably in life but even against all odds he made it through and came up on top!! That's what you call hard work & dedication!!

Really inspiring. I have recently watched a lot of friends of mine give up on aspirations, things they have worked on for years and then they just up and leave. Sometimes I've even doubted myself when I feel like the work and the risk is just too much and I wanna give up. Scooter Braun failed multiple times in his mind. But he never gave up. Amazing.
