The irony is Pakistan ended up winning this historic game at Karachi by 1 wicket thanks to Inzamam, Rashid and Mushy's rear guard action, despite Warnie refusing the bribe and actually bowling well and trying to get them out. They also went on to win the series with Salim Malik becoming the man of series scoring 557 runs. Surreal incident regardless, and one that caused a lot of furor back then when the news became public.

Why am i thinking, that warne took the bribe, explained that he wil bowl good and on the penultimate bowl, Inzi will come out, that bowl will stay low, keeper would be instructed to come close so he missed it and it goes through his legs for four runs, real bowl of the century inzi, keeper warne and salim malik all happy

Pakistan could not find a Salim Malik again, he averaged 60 against Australia, batted at difficult conditions. He was nearing the end of his career but this case actually made Pcb frame him alone while saving others like Wasim Akram, Inzamam, etc..

I was with him until he said 200k each. Salim malik would quit cricket if he had that kind of money lying around. I bet he low balled them and thats what pissed them off, hence he said eff off. I think for right price they would have said yes. He probably offered 20k usd each, not 200k each.

I doubt this, Pak players wouldnt have 200,000 USD to give out each players and it has never happened that Pak loses a test series to anyone other than India and people cared. A lot of loopholes in this story.

You didn’t understand. Bookmakers and people involved in fixing have a lot of money even if they’re from Pakistan. Salim Malik tried to play the sympathy card by telling him that his house will be burnt down which was a lie so that he gives into it and accepts the money
