Very true. Robert's fans blindly followed the man disapproving of any comments that questioned his sources of income. An overwhelming amount of evidence shows that he was always a fake as a 3 dollars bill. Who was the actual rich dad? Did Robert's income came from running businesses or selling pipe dreams crashing on people's despair and greed for money? One can find A LOT of holes in his story all the way from the beginning. But I understand he's got a lot of fans that are delusionally loyal to him and are in self-denial that 99% of money gurus like him out there are fake with pipe-dreams seminars as their main business models and source of income. I understand it takes nerves and brain cells to recognize authenticity which unfortunately most people don't have.

If you want to learn something, just read business history and analyze the circumstances and skills used by the entrepreneurs in building their business, also Benjamin Graham’s book The intelligent investor is the first book with which you should start. Those books are written by professionals based on real Businesses and on real experiences. Robert has shadows in his history and his book is too basic to be true. The only good thing is that Robert thought was the vision: to be rich (that’s all) just have the vision and concentrate on the goals (then the questions will pop-up, with the questions there will be the answers after lots of practice and reading) thanks for reading the comment.

I teach high school personal finance and I always have a "rich dad" unit where I expose kids to Robert's philosophy. I started doing this after listening to Robert constantly lecture about how we don't teach financial education correctly in our schools and I believe my students are better off as a result. By exposing them to his philosophy and approach to wealth I feel as though I'm giving them the best chance to make a choice that is right for them. It is going to take a long time to change the way people think about wealth and what it really means, but I am happy to have his perspective on it to share with my kids.

Kiyosaki's book Retire Young Retire Rich was the first financial development book I read back in 2011. It was at the same time of discovering personal development via Brian Tracy. That actually led me into starting my KZread channel (focus on cybersecurity) and grinding on that for the past 7-8 years. It's still work in progress but it has taught me invaluable lessons of putting things into practice and leveraging the potential of multiple sources of income.

If nothing else, Robert is a great study in modern branding and marketing. At first I believed that there actually was a rich dad, but I read something that said that Hawaii is such a small place and everyone knows everyone, so a man who had the wealth that the rich dad would have had would be widely known there. It doesn't matter if he was a real person or not, really, because his lessons are sound. I remember reading in one of his books when he told someone who was interviewing him for an article that she was writing about how he had trouble with English and school and that sort of thing. She had all this education, got good grades ect, yet Rich Dad Poor Dad was a bestseller while she struggled even to get small articles published.

In respects to the Rich Dad, Poor Dad book, I consider it to be a kind of medicine. There are folks who already live the ideas the book contains. They don’t need it. There are folks who are not going to be able to implement the ideas. And then there is the group for whom this is exactly the information they need to to get what they want in the world. To have the moral high ground, Kiyosaki needs a triage center. (Actually there are tons of inspirational and self help books that fall into this category.)

I have greatly accelerated my wealth building by learning from Kyosaki books, podcasts, and Cashflow game. I use the principles learned to help my adult children move beyond the simple disciplines, taught by others like Dave Ramsey, into a more investor-like mindset. As far as mentors go, I really appreciate Robert and his crew. However, once you buy something from them, the emails and “opportunities” to spend more (to learn more, invest more, etc.) are very aggressive. Same with many other big names, but I don’t hold any hard feeling towards them using these tools to generate their own long term cashflow, as long as they truly give a benefit to their consumers. Kyosaki is fond of saying every time he lost money investing, he was paying for his education. I would rather hold that attitude, learn, and improve, instead of complain about failures.

It’s amazing the number of people that attribute their start in real estate to Robert’s Rich Dad Poor Dad book. No, it doesn’t have many specifics, but the central idea of investing in income producing assets and using those assets to pay for what you want in life was very influential.

Thanks Alux for an unbiased review. You didn’t state anything that isn’t true. The major fact to be revealed is that there is zero evidence this guy had any measurable wealth before he wrote his books. Another point you all may consider is that he actually claimed a 50-100MM dollar net worth in his original book which was never corroborated. However, his net worth today after all the royalties and merch sales is estimated to be 80 million? If the guy claimed up to 100 million in net worth in 1997 do his followers consider him to be that savvy if he actually lost wealth in the last 20 years? Any Kiyosaki defenders that want to reply please explain the 20 million dollar loss of net worth despite creating an empire. Or maybe accept that he wasn’t rich before wrote the books. I give the guy a lot of credit for creating a brand, but he did make stuff up along the way-including the actual trademark.

Very well researched, Alux. I'll throw in some things you missed. There was no rich dad as being one person. Rich dad was the composition of Richard Wasserman Kimi, Keith Cunningham and Frank Crerie. Robert's friend Mike in the book Rich Dad Poor Dad is Alan Wasserman Kimi, who was on the Rich Dad show a couple years ago. It was Keith Cunningham who invented the Cashflow Quadrant. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lGuAtrGIorK5csY.html In Robert's version the concept is flawed, because the vertical axis has lost its meaning.

Robert Kiyosaki's work is one thing; his integrity is another. If you want to understand financial stuff, read Rich Dad Poor Dad, The Cashflow Quadrant, and The B I Triangle. If you are interested in matters of morality or integrity, I recommend The Bible.

Morality or integrity are important, without them you won't be rich for long and eventually someone you can't stop will come for your head. You might want to consider taking some classes on ethics.

@@daniel4647 I would change "important" to "foundational" in your statement above. I would happily take some ethics classes. My point was that intelligent students can learn the truth, even from sources that are lacking in other areas. For example, I am sure that I could learn many useful things from you, and I would not cheat myself out of that benefit simply because the source is a passive aggressive person who makes snarky comments instead of saying something meaningful or useful. See? You, like the rest of us, are a fallen creature. As a man, you are a sinner, and without Jesus Christ, you will burn in Hell forever. If you have not bowed your knee to Jesus, do not speak of ethics. If you have, then you are commanded to repent of the spiritual pride so prevalent in new converts. And, good luck!

Ethics aren’t learned in classes. If you don’t know ethics you’re already ethically bankrupt; wow.

In all the videos I have watched from your company this is the most honest and valuable. Well done. My option is he is evil. Getting rich is easy, getting rich with your conscience intact is the real game.
