    I've thought about making my own rocker plate for my existing trainer as there are a lot of nice DYI's out there. For now, I find just getting out of the saddle every so often really helps keep me from tightening up too much.

    Hey Katie, the new trainer does look awsome, been considering upgrading so this was helpful. However, I have a question about ERG mode, since you mentioned it in the video. I undestand the concept of it, and maybe you have already done a video that covers this, but I see so many people saying that you shouldn't use ERG mode for training and so was wondering your what you thoughts around it. Is it worth using for training, or maybe should it only be used for certain types of training. For example, I've found that if I'm trying to keep power and set cadence then it's just impossible on zwift without ERG mode, unless I just need more practise. Although for 3+ hour endurance rides ERG seems to get in the way for me. So I was just wondering what your thoughts/views were on ERG mode. Thanks again for review and videos.

    Hi Katie, Just a completely off-subject question. Would you be able to advise on what headphones you use. I use Jabra Elite wireless Buds which have gone very quiet when I use them for cycling/ running sessions so I'm looking for something new. I've heard that bone conduction wireless head phones are popular but get mixed reviews. What do you use?

    I would love to have one of those and even more so with the freezing cold weather we have right now, on top of an extraordinarily wet winter no less. The only issue is to justify (to myself if nothing else) the fairly potent price tag when the roads, uncomfortably wet and cold as they can be, cost nothing.

    I have the Wahoo bike and I have it on a rocker plate with fore aft as well as side to side movement. The bike gives tilt up and down as well - so all axes are covered pretty much. I've been using this for a good few years and would not want to go back to a fixed based trainer. The Tacx looks like a pretty elegant solution with those motion plates.

    i have a zwift hub one and have been interested with these rocker type products. did quick search for anything compatible for the hub and first thing in search were some etsy items with plastic covers that go on ends of feet and then you put tennis balls underneath. have a 3D printer that has same setup in that i printed blocks that i put racquet balls for dampening vibration. so off i go to experiment with designing my own for zwift hub and hopefully my weight is not to much to void the rocking sensation 😂

    I'm trying to decide whether to change my current setup. At the moment I've got a Tacx Flux S with a dedicated (cheap) bike that's slightly too long for me, and I've been looking at this, the Zwift Hub One (so I can remove all drivetrain issues and potentially just put my titanium bike on without worrying about indexing which fits me better, or goign whole hog and looking at Wattbikes - but these are BIG money. What would you recommend (have you tried the Zwift Hub One?)

  • @KatieKookaburra

    @KatieKookaburra

    5 ай бұрын

    Is it just the bike size issue that is encouraging you to look to swap? Flux S is a great set up - so surely cheaper to just buy a cheap second hand bike to put on the turbo? The bikes are mega - I’ve used the Tacx bike and loved it. But it is a big piece of kit and very heavy. And personally I prefer the more movement of the Tacx 2T or 3M. But you don’t have the issue with the drive train. Arghh so many swings and roundabouts isn’t it

  • @CycletheNation

    @CycletheNation

    5 ай бұрын

    @@KatieKookaburra I was thinking if I sold the Flux S and the bike that's on it, I could likely buy the Zwift Hub One and not lose any money, plus I'd get the years membership as a bonus. The Flux S only goes to 10% too - my love of climbing (and need to train it whilst it's -infinity°c outside) think I would benefit.

    It's a weird thing - yes you're looking for "realism" in terms of effort and output, but my brain knows I'm indoor, it knows I won't get road-feel/cornering/potholes/wind/flies etc.. I personally wouldn't see the time when lateral and horizontal plane movement would be something for me given you're still pretty much clamped in. But hey, still, up to personal preference. Indoor training is still really useful and wouldn't do without it.

  • @mikemurphy1856

    krietler rollers with added resistance fan. This is absolutely a better option than a stationary trainer if you want a more realistic road feel. With a power you can use it with your training software of choice. Only drawback is you don't get automatic software controlled resistance but I'll take the feel and the better workout you get from having to balance your bike.

    I own a 2T and is very VERY good but Wahoo is more realistic because it has a physical fly wheel. The fly wheel makes the pedaling feel more real. 2T has magnets and therefore it feels great but not as realistic. I use my 2T daily now in the winter and it has never let me down. I got it back in 2019 at the beginning on the pandemic.

    We can’t expect reviewers to buy everything with their own cash, being sent something by Garmin doesn’t mean the review is flawed, I think we’ve learnt that with DC Rainmaker’s content over the years. These high end trainers are all great, i think it comes down to cost. I use an Elite Suito and achieved noticeable motion for $10 by using high density pads under the feet that I found on Amazon. 5 hr rides are almost comfortable now. Thanks for the video.

    Let's say this, "any" kind of turbo helps for cardio\muscle training (and weight control), "some" turbo (like the one you show) are smarter and more realistic, "no" turbo can come close the experience of real ride, when the mass of the bike+biker in movement on two spinning wheels is subject to a dynamic game of acceleration, flywheel effect and inertia that is impossible to mimic
