Hello Alois and Jeff, Hope u guys are well, have a question for tracking the ball, where do you keep your eyes on. The ball travels fast so I don’t think one can keep the eyes always on the ball. I have recently played against an unorthodox player whose timing of returning the ball was early and he was mostly doing placements. Thus it felt like game is running too fast. So I then changed my focus to his racket and as soon as the ball leaves his racket I was certain about the trajectory of the ball coming and was ready to attack. It’s like getting more information when I was actually able to see his wrist and basically ball leaving the racket. Earlier when I served him before I could get ready he would have blocked or returned the ball very early like just after the bounce on his side and then of course I am mostly reacting. He does not add much spin seems just reuses or returns no spin but places very early. So my question is do players have some strategy/technique of focusing on a particular point from where they start traking the ball. And does it changes with players of different style

We would recommend simply watching the ball at all times regardless of your opponent and their style. You may be able to pick up things with your peripheral vision but make sure to be watching the ball intently.

@@pingskills thanks for the response and do you have any tips/strategy for playing against players playing with thin sponge. I am thinking to give them no spin returns so they also struggle but I am not sure, is it worth practising?

@@mayankgupta2543 I think it is worth practicing variety with spin. This can only be beneficial.

In my experience (only my opinion), I think one important thing should be Falkenbergaren which one is blocking with the backhand on the backhand side and the second one does backhand on the backhand side then one forehand on the backhand side then one forehand on the forehand side.

You need to watch the contact of your opponents racket on the ball. Go to PingSkills.com and look at the receiving section as we have many tutorials on this. Good luck!
