Yeah, he actually just receives it after murdering the champion titan, before that he was wearing sentinel armor that reveals like half of your torso whereas the entire lower body is covered entirely.

It's not just the Doom slayer got buried in rubble, he also was sealed as were essentially in a state of magic coma during his time inside the sarcophagus. The keep that holds that sarcophagus was so closely guarded that the demons guarding it fought like their life depended on it, because they literally are.

I once read that the reason the Slayer uses guns instead of his fists, is to make the demons suffer more. Which, I got to agree with. simply one punching demons would probably get boring, or not fuel his rage as much. So using conventional/unconventional weaponry, actually makes sense. Look at our soldiers, when they get shot it is agony. The Slayer WANTS the demons to be in agony. Hell, more than agony. He wants them tortured, ripped to shreds, burned alive. He wants them to make death seem like a blessing. My own head canon is that, the demons are scared shitless of the Slayer, and the only reason they can't run, is because they were never programmed to. All they know is to throw themselves at anything that is an obstacle to them and kill the rest. But the Slayer? All they can do is do what they were programmed to do. Throw themselves at the obstacle. But this 'obstacle' is unbeatable. And they know this.

Doomguy is the strongest in my head because whenever I'm scared of some fictional entity, halo Flood, SCP, backroom, stuff like that, I always imagine the doom slayer standing behind them. Just as the music begins to swell and I feel all the better. Hard to be scared when the slayer is around and honestly, that's a powerful feeling to evoke. Hence why I will always feel the slayer as the strongest.

We should also consider another possibility that Doomguy only fights with a small fraction of his full strength, he deliberately toys with his enemies. In the novel Starship Troopers, there’s a quotation with the meaning roughly as “War is a form of limited violence, we don’t need to wipe them out with nukes, but to teach them a lesson that we can storm their territories and make them suffer like raiding our own candy store, that will be enough to persuade them to behave”. So Doomguy is clearly broadcasting a message to everyone in multiverse: “I can rip and tear you by the most gruesome ways whenever I feel like to, so live in fear for eternity.”

The reason why he was sent to Mars specifically was because his CO ordered him to open fire on unarmed civilians which he refused, went up to his CO and pummeled the absolute daylights out of him. He also didn’t like how toxic waste was being dumped into the environment, he clearly states that in the comics lol

-How powerful is Doom Guy? -Yes.

I'd like to point out that the Praetor suit in Eternal leaves the skin on his arms exposed. Considering demonic attacks at least appear to be able to hurt him even inside the suit as evidenced by the fact he can, y'know, die; this implies his skin is just naturally as strong as the suit he wears since at no point do his upper arms get absolutely ravaged in about a thousand different ways.

The Doom Slayer was empowered/enhanced by the Divinity Machine. He became effectively godlike in terms of Superhuman Physical Prowess which also means he cannot die of old age and is immortal who can live over decades and eons(Billions of Years) He still has his Divine Power even when he defeated the Dark Lord this has been confirmed by Hugo Martin in Midnights interview called "I Interviewed Hugo Martin And He Revealed More DOOM Lore" He is just asleep in the Sarcophagus. He doesn't lose his Divine Power. It's more of a prophecy as he had kill the threat now he could rest as the threat is gone so he will come back and wake up when a new threat appears without losing his power.

I'm more leaning towards the first because that was why the Doomslayer passed out was the breaking of the divinity machine being broken because Davoth was no longer powering it.

@@demonintellect9834 thing is that davoth is directly responsible for slayers Creation. thats why he looks identical to davoth, the divinity machine basically made it so slayer could absorb the power from divine beings, similar to how the father rose in power by absorbing dovoths power over time until he betrayed and usurped davoth, I'm pretty sure that their power exists independently from the body, so the power that davoth had doesn't just disappear when he died, it is transfered to the next closest being who could absorb the power, which would be slayer. so technically slayer is now the most powerful being after absorbing davoths power in its entirety. its never stated that the power absorbed by slayer or the makyrs relies on the existence of davoth to continue. if that was the case, all of the makyrs would immediately die following davoths death, do to their existence relying on argent energy or they'd mutate until they die.

For those wondering, all of the Slayer’s weapons are made viable against his foes by the Slayer’s energy, or his life force. They may use regular bullets, but his energy makes them able to damage GOD

He wasn't just trapped under rubble, he was lured into the halls of a massive temple which a Hell Titan then proceeded to collapse down upon him, allowing them only to stun him long enough to take away his suit and seal him within the coffin rather than actually cause him any damage.

Another thing to note. Doom slayer technically can’t die. Even if you somehow do manage to pierce his skin which btw is said to be even stronger than his armor, he would get ressurected. You can kill him, but you can’t keep him there

so i have a theory. DS himself isn't the one who's "stronger than universes" or whatever, nor is he capable of outright destroying universes he's just capable of killing gods. so even though he can't just gun the universe out of existence, he can target the maker and kill that instead. hence why he's a "slayer" rather than a "destroyer"

very true. i just can't forgive what blizzard did to the diablo and stacraft lore in the sequels. diablo 1 & 2 had awesome lore, and from 3 onwards they retconed EVERYTHING into a generic piece of crap. starcraft got even further shafted. from one of the most interesting scifi universes to a soap opera in space. bah.

I like to think that the whole "being buried in rubble" is actually made out to be way smaller than it ACTUALLY is. Like, a systematic destruction of an incredibly large structure and even of the surrounding area to come cascading down specifically on top of DS. They probably lead him into like a 50th floor basement before collapsing those 50 basement floors and a 100 floor building on top of him, before building another 100 floor building on top of that.

I mean... the Slayer got trapped underneath a Blood Temple so it's not like it was just a random building. The place was probably filled with dark magic and they dropped all of that onto the Slayer and immediatly put him in the sarcophagus. Slayer's Testament VII: "Yet as the mighty Titan fell and dread engulfed the armies of Doom, the demon priests of the Blood Temples laid a trap to capture this scourge of Hell. Insatiable, even by the vanquishing of the Great One, the Hell Walker sought prey in the tombs of the Blood Keep. And blinded by his fervor, the lure drew him in. The priests brought down the temple upon the Doom Slayer, and in his defeat entombed him in the cursed sarcophagus. The mark of the Doom Slayer was burned upon his crypt, a warning to all of Hell that the terror within must never be freed. There he lies still, and ever more, in silent suffering."

To add another reason why the Blood temple cannot be used to Downscale the Slayer. They literally actively chose not to kill him while he was immobilized. They had access to dozen of titans that could've been used to squash him and produce a payload much much lethal then a Falling temple but Hell and the Dark Lord thought it would be better just to seal him away.

And Doomslayer has better durability due to tanking Vega Core explosion which produced an explosive blast far hotter than even the Sun's core and stronger than several strongest nukes combined. I believe Hugo stated that DoomSlayer possibly empowers his weapons in a Doom Livestream, he said he doesn't think much about that stuff I think. "UAC REPORT FILE S4381XYR Once ingested, the subject effectively becomes a host for what was presumed to be the most powerful of Ul-Thranx demons. Any weapon held by the subject is enchanced, giving it up to four times as much projectile force and ballistic power. Though the effects are short lived, they can be devastating. One small note here - guns are empovered as was stated during streams of Hugo, so they're actually as powerful as he is, that's why they were able to damage the Icon. And actually if you think about it - it's way more comfortable to have demons stuck in place with microbeam or to take out caco from a distance than letting them escape/being far away to reach than actually run at them each time.

Honestly speaking there is no evidence that his weapons are enhanced in game play or any other lore medium. The weapon he used against the Icon of sin is his missile launcher. Which of course does enough damage. Not to mention the Icon of Sins glaring weakness namely his exposed brain. It doesn't take a tactical genius to figure out that rocket plus brain = dead.

Based on the lore, we can fairly easily explain Doom Slayer's ability to damage universal beings with utterly mundane weaponry. Doom slayer has Weapon Refinement or something similar to how Ki works in DBZ in that Trunks literally used a normal sword to turn Freiza into hamburger. In that case it's Ki, I'm going to assume that in DS's case, it's the Praetor Suit as it'll tell him straight-up what he needs to Do to have the weapons straight-up upgrade by themselves. Not only does he get sustained by killing Demons, but he also uses them to gain more power in more ways than one.

It's just in the a rule of a Primeval. They themself are logic as it's written in the codex. Also by the rule, only a Primeval can kill a Primeval so the Slayer can pretty much go full naked mode, bitch slap the demons with his cock and they will die.

This actually makes sense, as the Quad Damage report says that it enhance the damage of the weapons wielded by the user, even if it's a pocket knife, so it's not too farfetchd saying that the slayer can do the same.

They can be defeated by the KO like it was with the tample, or damaged enough (Davoth suit was damaged while it's as empovered and it was stated many powerful non-prime beings tried to fight him which stated he's can be knocked out), just cannot die by any other hands. I saw somewhere that the Praetor suit wasn't worn for protection against damage, but mainly to just soak up more argent energy, which the Slayer uses as fuel essentially after he was put through the divinity machine.

Yes, it was in a codex entry of eternal when you meet tje betrayer. Betrayer was the one to make the Praetor suit just so DoomSlayer can get stronger by killing. And it's apparently made of the same material that Kahn Maykr's and Icon of Sin's armour were made from (can even be father's(vega's) armour.

I think it's literally the fact that you're experiencing the game through his perspective.. so when enemies move at 200x the speed of sound through the gameplay he sees it as basic sp3ed since his reaction time would be at that level too. If that makes sense

Actually Hugo Martin confirmed that actually the Slayer amplifies the weapons he uses (most likely with his argent energy magic) meaning they pack way more firepower which is how he was able to gun down the Icon or stab Davoth.

​@@cherno8336 It's an answer to a question concerning the lore of the games by Hugo Martin himself. It's cannon, unless contradicted by a higher authority like the games themselves.

The DOOM slayer was captured because the demons bated him with something he couldn't resist. It is never stated EXACTLY what it was but it was something he couldn't let go even knowing it was a trap. The demons collapsed their most sacred temple on top of him to STUNN him for a few seconds. Then they cast a quick spell to separate him from his armor and lock them both away. The demons had no idea of his relationship with his armor so they never even dreamed to taking it out to study how to damage it. Also the temple was like the size of a city. That is what it took to stun him a bit. Had they tried to cast that spell when he was fine, he would have shrugged it off. Also it is said that the fight between the Slayer and the Titan lasted for a decade. Non stop.

The Demons dropped the Blood Temples on top of the Slayer, and it only did manage to stop him just enough to seal him. If a fucking temple can only knock you out instead of stopping you completely, then you know you're beyond everything they had used to stop you.

How could you forget to mention Daisy? Idk if I'm right or wrong on this, but I'm pretty sure the demons killing Daisy was the main reason (along with vengeance and revenge) that he stayed in hell, he never wanted to return, he wanted the demons to suffer And the demons should remember, the longer the doom slayer stays in hell, the stronger he becomes.

@@plzletmebefrank My friend, the og doom and daisy came out in 1993, story didn't matter back then, of course they were not going to go for a "serious" approach for the motivation behind the protagonist in the following sequel because no one would have cared, so they headed for a more "silly" approach to put it somehow, as in the end it's funnier that the demon killing monster that Doomguy is, just cared about his pet bunny. The wife and kid were added later on in the story when Doom Eternal came out.

This was a fascinating video about something that I never wondered lol

Imagine making the original, not knowing how fucking busted the protagonist would become almost 3 decades later.

Got summin to do with the Divinity machine was powered by a piece of the dark lord, and doomguy received that power. Vega literally said that the slayer is the darklord, polar opposite in the Earth dimension. Maybe given a few millennia the slayer could harness the magic side of things, but physically he has the same power as the dark lord and it is said only he could dominate hell. That is why hell is so afraid of him.

@@oiladdychewsday An SCP doesn't need to be contained/containable to be an SCP. There's this one SCP I remember that will outright just delete the universe when it awakens, and there's literally nothing the foundation can do about it, it's just a matter of when, not if.

At first, I thought the Doomslayer would've been around large star lvl at best, but DAMN, I never thought he'd be _that_ OP! This made me think that he stands a fair chance against other OP characters, like Gilgamesh (or anyone in Fateverse), Kratos, Sephiroth, Asura, Darkseid, Goku, the Avengers, some pretty OP SCPs, some very-powerful Isekai characters (ones with ass-pulls and have their themes be playing in the background while they do their attacks lol), and more! One catch there is that Sephiroth is often heavily wanked. His Supernova attack is clearly an illusion as Earth is fine and intact afterward and he needed an outside source of help to summon a celestial body to do any real damage to the planet

Being trapped under rubble is not a weird anti-feat. Feats of strength are largely about positioning and moving your body so that your leg and hip muscles can help your arms and torso perform a given task. That's what lifting with your legs is about. It's why baseball players take a big step forward while they swing. Depending on what position he was buried in, and under how much rubble, he may not have been able to position himself to access his full strength. It's actually a really clever way to contain a theoretically immortal opponent of incredible physical strength.

Hugo Martin confirmed that DOOM is actually a metaverse which is multiple multiverses & dimensions, so both Doomguy/Doom Marine/Doom Slayer and Davoth are even more overpowered then anyone thought. P.S Davoth aka The Dark Lord created the metaverse of DOOM.

The whole temple thing wasn't just about the weight, hell basically used all of it's magic at once and was only able to put the Slayer to sleep,the temple was just a distraction.

Nevermind the whole "choosing the path of eternal torment." On purpose. After being betrayed, yet seemingly understanding why he was betrayed. It's such a simple sort of story, to start, now the direction iD has gone has really fleshed it out nicely. Even if the next iDsoft game is a new I.p, pr perhaps a rebootycall of Quake, I have a lot of confidence the current dev team is gonna release some stanky badass stuff even if they dont go for another Doom sequel. That destructible demons and wildly fast amd free movement could really revolutionize tons of first person shooting gameplay throughout the games industry. We also don't seem to have gotten Daisy back yet, so.... Them demons best be cautious. Doomguy is never gone for too long..?

I’m glad you did Doomslayer cause I hear and see people tell me to play eternal cause he’s OP. Tik Tok is crazy high on this guy. I’m also glad you included the lore because people don’t understand how the gaming verses operates. That’s why it’s always good when the staff straight up tells you the purpose of descriptions, extra source of media and material, interviews etc that the lore is the actual primary source. Gameplay is basically the restricted hint of what the characters can actually do. Good video Chuck.

I'd actually take gameplay, because that implies that he CAN die, but he's too angry to do so. Memes aside, it implies that he's such a skilled and determined beast, so focused on his task that will not stop. He was almost brought down, when the sentinels found him doomguy was almost dead as told by the captors, but when he was blessed with the divine machine , it was game over for the demons, he can still die, but he's at his peak and maximun level all the time

If you’d like a little context, the reason he was trapped before 2016 is because of a demonic curse, one that very similarly trapped the dark lord and the father. So he was basically put to sleep and sealed away because nobody wanted to mess with him, or break the curse by hitting him.

The doom franchise is a blessing

Doomguy was born as a god always, according to the story from 2016 and Eternal. And it makes sense because he was insanely strong in the original games as well, beyond superhuman levels of strength. He just had to earn his power, unlike Davoth, who is said to have been consumed by the need to grant immortality to his people and turned more evil in the search of more power.

I think its worth mentioning that, according to the lore, davoth actually spoke, from within his life sphere, to the seraphim persuading him to reverse the polarity of the divinity mwchine and stick the doom guy into it. Maykr actually built the divinity machine under davoth's influence, using some shard that had some of Davoth's properties in it, that's how Doom guy became who he is. He was literally infused with the power of the dude that created planes of existence just by being.

As a fellow DOOM fan (I'm an active powerscaler of the verse. I have my own videos on it and at times I work on it on Vs Battles Wiki. Hell I'm actually one of the two guys who spearheaded the CRT that got DOOM to 2-A) I have to say, you put out a fine video. You among other things, gave an alright summary of the Slayer's story and rightfully said that the stupid temple feat was a low-end outlier. My only big complaint is that you should have put more sources in the video. Granted, you got the big stuff (I.e. The blatant higher-dimensional statement for Urdak and Hell transcending time and space) but things like individual Argent caches having more power than that of a nuclear reactor, or the Icon of Sin smashing up Hell need sources. Also how dare you not mention the John Romero easter egg in DOOM II you son of a bitch.

"My only big complaint is that you should have put more sources in the video." Agreed. A big draw of yours and Seth's videos are you two usually heavily source your claims. I can't tell you how much I used the Goku vs Omniman vid just for that reason in debates. This one felt kinda sloppy to be honest. You really only started to pull in the sources near the later half of the vid. Also this should have scaled Doomguy for Doom 1 and 2. Like I'm still not sure how powerful a human would have to be to clear the forces of Hell singlehandedly. So as far as Doom 1 and 2 goes Doomguy is vaguely x powerful and or the demons from 1 and 2 are just weaksauce. I really wanted more detail pertaining to that. Also there is a larger discussion to be had about gameplay vs lore scaling. Part of it is that authors and designers aren't great powerscalers in general. Let's be honest. But the other end of it are literary things like 'death of the author'.

Can’t forget that he scales above anything he fights because he’s fueled by the will to win meaning if he wants to win bad enough he will because he just grows stronger and stronger

@@mishagaming1075 yes i do agree that he would be perfectly happy with losing to an opponent if they could beat him however that goes against his character. the whole point is that he cannot find someone who can best him, the whole idea is that every enemy is beaten with one hit which is his curse

This an amazing song, that being said I do actually need medication and constantly try to do new things but am literally held back by a tightening in my chest, shortness in my breath, my sight malfunctioning and auditory hallucinations due to extreme anxiety…I keep trying but how much of this do I need to suffer until “it works” seriously I’m happy for you if you got over something but I don’t know how many more times I can keep having my heart beat thru my chest and eyes feel like they’ll bulge until they pop to “just get over it”

Hey, fellow DOOM powerscaler here (mainly on Quora), I loved this video. It clearly showed that game mechanics are unreliable methods of backing up your argument. You also did well on showing the power of Hell and the other opponents of the Slayer via the lore. This was an enjoyable video because of how accurately it portrays and uses the lore in comparison to other DoomGuy powerscaling videos. Overall, great video.

The way I see it, one of the most important features of DS's strength is the fact that he sucks the health out of his enemies when he kills them, allowing him to never die, regardless of how many wounds he gets. Tell me if you agree :)

He wasn't stuck in "some rubble". He was baited into an unescapeable sarcophagus that contained him with some hell magic shit.

Reminder that Berserk powerups used to last forever within a level, the devs didn't have to do that, but they did. I like to think the old berserk powerups made with medicine were way stronger than those made of energy. Though berserk also only basically quintupled his strength, instead of effectively making it exponentially higher more or less.

Actually it doesn't last forever nor until the end of the level. It lasts for an insane amount of game ticks (i forget the number) so it seems like it does. Learned that from one of decino's videos. He's got some damn good analysis vids!
