How Pixel Quest Speedrunners Turned Walls into Liquid

Ойындар

A Video by Maximum - In 2011, a video game company known as HardCircle released a flash game called Pixel Quest, a game about a treasure hunter searching for golden idols for a tribe that had lost them. This game featured a dash mechanic that made the game quite fun to play, but this simple mechanic would end up creating the game's most broken speedrunning glitch: The Dash Cancel. With this glitch, Pixel Quest speedrunners were able to constantly propel themselves forward at dash speed, able to easily clip through any wall in the game, opening a whole assortment of possibilities for massive skips in the game's 48 levels. However, Pixel Quest has far more glitches than just the Dash Cancel, for this video will cover a whole assortment of other glitches that easily make Pixel Quest one of the most broken flash games ever created. This video will also cover how Pixel Quest came to be, the history of the speedrunning community surrounding the game, and the failure of Pixel Jones, a PC / Console game that was intended to be Pixel Quest's successor.

Hi Maximum, can you do a video on Exit Path speedrunning? It’s a flash game from 2010 that had it’s WR beaten _ten years_ after the previous one! Exit Path was a game by jmbt02 that was designed for players to complete it quickly. While it gives the achievement “Perfect” at 6:XX, the speedrun times are at 2:XX! This is due to a lot of glitches such as double-jump dashing and dash-wall jumps.

It's amazing how broken the pause button can be in some games. Also I might consider doing 100%il runs sometime.

There are a couple places in both pixel quest games where there is no barrier preventing you from exiting the level and so you can go through walls without needing to perform a dash cancel
