How Pilots communicate over the Atlantic - A330 flying to Orlando
Ғылым және технология
Welcome back to another day in the life of a pilot.
Today you join me as an airline long haul pilot in the cockpit of the Airbus A330 and I'll guide you through what it takes to cross the Atlantic in regard to communication!
On this flight we took off in Frankfurt international airport EDDF on runway 25C and flew over the Atlantic to Orlando International Airport KMCO.
In this video I'll show you how an aircraft stays connected to Air Traffic controller even in remote areas like the Atlantic Ocean!
If you have question in your head like:
What is CPDLC?
What is SATCOM?
What is ADS-B?
What is ADS-C?
Do planes use HF or VHF ?
How to communicate during an Emergency?
Then this video is for you!
As always sit back and enjoy!

Hi Pascal, hope you're doing amazing. You’ve come so far. I remember watching your first video, and I am so proud of you and I recently just got into CAE London Gatwick, and I am starting my training in July. I can’t wait your videos have helped me out, and I have gained a lot of knowledge by watching your videos throughout your KZread journey keep pumping out content and never stop.✈️👊❤🙌
As always a great Video, I like how you used multiple camera angels during explaining the hf and vhf. Keep it going! Its always a blessing when you upload
Thank you Pasal, that vid was very interesting, answered things I always wanted to know!
Amazing! I have always been interested about oceanic flights
Thanks for the video! I love this type of content, its giving me the motivation to become a pilot!! I have learnt a lot from your videos!! Thanks!
I really like your videos Pascal. Thanks for sharing 😊😊

Beautiful video, very informative and interesting
Excellent video, for those who one day aspire to be a pilot, these videos are a great source of information, apart from being a pilot, you can begin to consider yourself a teacher. Thank you for your time, my best wishes
I enjoyed watching this video !

No need to increase rate if posting. We would rather have great videos like this than rushed content!
Another great video. Just one remark: in the description you write that you took off from RWY 07C, but it was 25C.
Nice video! Which headset do you use? Do you get them from your company or are they your own?
Hey Pascal. I was wondering, do you think you could do a video of a takeoff and landing and explain everything that is said either by you, other pilots or the plane? I love your content! Have a good day :))
Awesome video! just a question: why are instruments censored ?

Any details? Strange to blur PFD/MFD whilst ECAM and tablet are OK...
I feel illegal being this early
You always get to 5. Landings smooth as a baby's bottom 👌🏼
fun fact the people pilots actually talk to when dealing with specifically shanwick are not the actual controllers. they are radio operators as the actual controllers are in prestwick. they can't reach the entirity of the HLA from preswick so the radio operators are stationed in balleycasey, ireland
I MIGHT FLY WITH U…. Im flying to orlando with discover airlines in 4 months🎉🎉
Taxi N-Orange Line? You better check your wingspan or your type of aircraft. November blue/orange is max. Code C equivalent to 36,0m.
Wie immer gutes Video, im Flugsimulator gibt es auf Vatsim einfach einen Shanwick Center, da kann man sich die Oceanic clearence holen

Noticed you made some manual thrust adjustment on the mco approach, i thought that was not necessary on airbus. Is the autothrust slow to react?
Can tou explain briefly what is the difference between normal oceanic clearance and New York oceanic clearance? Thank you for all ❤
hey Pascal, I still think it's very old-fashioned how people communicate across the Atlantic and Pacific with these text messages, but it's a very interesting video😊
@kitbaker8521
Ай бұрын
How is that old fashioned? Old fashioned is having to monitor and use HF radio. The message system works well when there is no voice capability over the pacific and the Atlantic.
@saschapeischl4690

@@kitbaker8521 Yes, you're right, the text messages are of course much better than this hf radio on the frequency because it's difficult to understand 👍👌
I was reading on the news about the Somalia airspace interference and since you do fly to Windhoek is it different over there?
Thanks for your awesome content. Is it a company request that the PFD and ND must be blurred?
@Pascalklr

Glad you enjoyed it 🙌 yes it is ✌️
Cool video! Do you have to make first contact using HF and then switch to CPDLC? Or do you just use CPDLC the entire time? Thanks

I believe it's cpdlc.
Hi Pascal, I have a question is it possible if you could tell me the depature time and date out of Frankfurt, because there is a possibility that my Uncel flew with you to Orlando.
CPDLC is the best man. Can you guys use it within domestic US FIRs too? US airlines do, I’m just curious if European carriers are participating too? Mainly we only use it for frequency changes😂
One question, why did you blur the screens, is there some sort of company secret on them?
Can you Tell me, on which day was this flight? I think my Dad was on it!
14:29 Why are pfd and nd grayed out?
Why do you need to blur the aircraft registration and the pfds?
Hello Sir. I am a student pilot, and was wondering where you silver suitcase was from? 👌🏽😁

why are the screens blurred out?
Why do you blur out the registration?
What are the disadvantages of being a pilot?
A shame you have to blur the pfd. Do you know why Discover made that decision? I don't see how it makes sense.
Why do you blure the PFD and ND? I noticed this thing and made me curious
@AntoniosSpiliotopoulos

Airline policies. If he says which airline he works for that usually comes with consequenses. In this case he can't show a pfd.

@@pilotgabriel5290 Yeah me neither. Maybe they don't want people to see in case there's something abnormal on the pfd and then think their pilots are bad.
Amazing with all of this flight following technology how the malaysian airlines airplane just vanished from the earth
I'm in love
at 10:47 there was an issue with the text
When did you say the name of the airline you're flying for? I'm asking because the ND and PFD is censored. From what i have understood at your airline the policy is that you can't show PFD and ND when you tell the name of the airline you're flying for on social media.
why do you blur the pfd etc?
@Pascalklr

YOOO TRAKED UR FLIGHT🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Overseas airlines what there pilots to show off their planes and work environments while American pilots can’t because the airlines here don’t allow filming.
You come across as very conceited and arrogant. Confidence is a great thing and welcomed, the other two -- not so much.
