How Parallelized State Execution Unlocks Transactional Throughput at Scale | Logan Jastremski

Ойын-сауық

In today's episode Jason and Santi are joined by Logan Jastremski of Frictionless Capital. He shares his thesis on why high-throughput blockchains are essential for crypto to reach mainstream adoption. We dive deep into the technical limitations of existing chains, and how innovations like parallelization and higher bandwidth unlock entirely new applications and business models not possible before. Stay tuned for a deep dive into deterministic and optimistic parallelization, performant validator nodes, and much more!

One of the most important episodes you guys have ever done. Seriously, sending this to all my friends who clutch their ETH like someone going down on the titanic. Not talking about price, more about if you believe this tech will change the world, ETH is THE LEAST likely tech to make that happen. Easily best episode of the last 12 months, thanks again.

Thanks for coming on! I've loved your podcast even since a crypto-nerd friend recommended it to me. I'm a non-engineer normie so I only understand about 15% of the details, but it seems way more intuitive than other POV's. Thanks for making the general concepts simple enough for non-engineers to understand and make their own conclusions.

Your podcast is the best in the industry IMO. It’s the only one that gets into technical details in a satisfactory way. Thanks for what you are doing. It’s important work. And thanks for taking this interview. It was nice to get some more context for how you think about things.

Interesting discussion. I think that realizing massive scale requires a ledger that is designed for it from day one. My favorite model right now is Cerebus which is the consensus mechanism for Radix. Scale tests are imminent so we will see if the academic papers translate to teal computing environments.

Logan tell me this. When most tasks are serial how can we parallelize those tasks . At the end it’s not parallelization but mimicking parallelization with concurrency .

I think modular designs will likely win out. Zkevm will allow for unlimited EVM chains to connect together seamlessly.

You're talking about Polkadot here, the reason why the co-founder of ETH left. This is something Polkadot has been doing for some time now.

Here is my POV as a software engineer. This guy focuses too much on performance. Not every apps needs high throughput. Over 7 years of my experience as an engineer and not once I ever needed to do any parallel programming. The market for this high performance apps is tiny, and to my knowledge it's only used in HFT trading. As a proof, Rust only has market share of 0.01%, the most popular language is Javascript that is single threaded. We haven't even talked about how extremely hard it is compared to regular programming, which leads to more bugs and failures.

I am not defending Ethereum here. I understand that Ethereum is not scalable. But L2 is created for that reason and you can't completely throw it out of the window.

I hear the opposite. The market is huge. It's not just about finance. It's about every other industry that just doesn't work with existing blockchains. Supply chain, rights management etc. You may want to check out what Prasaga are doing.
