That is a layer of wood under the bark, not bark. The bark is removed because otherwise it would dull the knives in the chipper.

actually they plant around 5 trees per every one they use, they plant in yearly consession so they never run out, its a good way to do things, plus plant genetics are helping to make trees grow better and faster, it's not all evil ya know, good things come from this too.

@mopster95 actually they plant 3 in its place...its better that way and the 30 year turn around for a tree to grow is more effecient..

@mopster95 Yes... but you would have to wait another 10 - 20 years for the tree to grow again.

Yeah, that's why clear cutting still exists, because it's much more profitable than the relatively low output of forestry. Then again, a forestry operation takes one guy with a machine who can just drive in as you saw in the video - whereas a clear cut operation involves far ranging machines. There's also select tree cutting, but that involves more manual labor and ultimately drives up wood prices, even in places of abundant forest, like BC, where apparently a section of soft wood flooring costs over 1000 dollars. It's because they rely on select cutting rather than forestry, because leftists in BC think forestry is evil. It would lower housing prices due to cheaper construction (leftists are also worried about housing prices), but no leftist idea has failed to contradict another leftist idea.

I am sorry to have been curious as to how a carton is manufactured. The unfortunate creature's of the woods, are indiscriminately slaughted, and mutilated by such massive, perverse, destruction of "growth chosen" tree farm trees. We just are not worthy of this place that we are heartlessly destroying. God's "best it could do" creatures we claim to be ? No way is that crap claim possible.

Better than lumberjacks risking their lives. Crazy how long it took them to fell some trees, if you watch some videos of them. Also, it's all managed so that the forest doesn't deplete, as it would if it were clear cut (clear cutting is where they cut down a whole forest and don't let it recover). Proper forestry is when they let it recover and keep it maintained - unlike in the west coast of north america, where trees are left to stand until they become 'dead wood', greatly increasing forest fire risk. That's why you hear so much about forest fires every summer if you live somewhere like BC or California.
