How one NASA image tells dozens of stories

Video Description:
In 2016, NASA used the Suomi NPP weather satellite to create a high resolution image of the earth at night. It can help us better understand the current developments and conflicts underway.
The amount of light pollution is most severe in heavily populated areas, as well as in regions of high prosperity.
In Europe, the Benelux region and the densely populated Po-Valley are so bright, that the individual towns blend into one big sea of light.
Especially in the Arab world, the extraction of oil creates bright lights from the flaring of gas.
And in Africa, you can trace the path of the Nile River, which, as the lifeline of egypt, attracts civilization and is filled with commercial boats.
This image points to the global challenges posed by the steadily increasing world population. And while man-made borders can not be seen during the day, the lines of political origin become apparent at night, but appear all the more absurd and artificial.
When viewed during daylight, the human influence on our planet is less obvious.
But this single image highlights the social divides and political strife from both the past and the present.

Why does the channel have a new name?
As you may have noticed, the channel has changed its name from "Society of Geeks" to "neo".
And to make this clear: It's not about a change of ownership, it's just taste.
When I launched the channel almost 3 years ago, I would have never thought the videos would get the attention they now have. The initial scope of the types of topics were very limited but now has expanded. The channel was thought to deal primarily with analysing films but now they have become more political. And the name should have the flexibility to fit for both aspects, as well as for any genres in the future that I can’t even think of right now.
And with this new name, it feels right to approach the next goals and really develope the channel into something exciting.
Thanks for your understanding.

Egypt has to have the most bizarre looking geography. You can still see the Nile both in day and night. In the day, you can see the sliver of green in the middle of the desert. At night, the green turns to just lights. It’s crazy how the entire population lives in this small space surrounded by literal unlivable swath of land

I've lived in one of those dark areas on the map. Some places for several years. Nights there are... dark. But it feels bright and serene, the sky is bright, full of stars. On the contrary, where I live now, in singapore, the nights are bright, but the sky is dark and gloomy. Sometimes I miss the rural villages, but then I remember that back there, I had to pump my water out myself from wells, use a squat toilet, and rid myself off any restaurant or other convenience I have in the city. In county like Indonesia where I've lived for some times (small town called parigi in sulawesi), there was no cafe, bar, or pub, or something like that because the majority religion forbids alcohol and that impacts the places where you can mingle with strangers, which is none.

  • @Kern361

@@Kern361 sure, but not in the places I've talked about. As I said, *"In county like Indonesia where I've lived for some times"* and not in any western european or american country. In case you don't know, Indonesia's major religion is prohibiting alcohol and intersexual mingle, and it means, no bar no cafe, nowhere for strangers to meet. Unless you already know someone from the village, the chance of you mingling with strangers in a public gathering place is close to zero. Especially not if you're of a chinese descendant like me, because Indonesians are generally racist towards chinese, especially in rural areas. If you're white, then perhaps you can since white people are considered exotic there, but not chinese.

I'm from a city of about 100,000 people but the population is very widely spread so it's still completely possible to watch a sky full of stars. I have to admit that it's a pretty weird feeling when some tourists pay thousands of euros to come see northern lights here and for me it's like "oh sky isn't completely black and full of stars, it has some colors today, well that's nice" 😅

Syria was such a beautiful country I had the chance to visit my uncle who fleed from Iraq to Syria in 2008 , I hope that Syria would have peace and Syrians to get back to their homes one day , I remember the days after Iraq's invasion in 2003 hope was lost in entire country death and destruction everywhere we look , things might not be that much good now but compared to back then I think that we came a long way .

I wonder ... How do the men who chose to destroy one of the oldest human settlements (that are still functioning!!!) ...FEEL about ordering the complete anniliation of Aleppo? How can they live with themselves knowing they are directly responsible for bombing that city, that entire country into gravel and dust? A handful of men pounded a world city, a UNESCO treasure, into heaps of rubble and forced Syrians to the biggest mass migration in history!? THIS is why I favor assassinations! Or, out those men in cages & let them fight each other, to death if they feel so passionate about ...having a stinking port on the Mediterranean! THAT is the real reason for Syrian destruction! Russia wants a warm water port! That is why it all started! Insane. Just burns me up, and breaks my heart. 😤😡😠👎🕊️☮️🕉️

I wouldn't call it amazing. If anything it's dreadful. Regardless of time we keep destroying one another. And the only option people are left with is to start again. And it repeats over and over. Some nations do it to themselves through cannibalising infrastructure to focus on cities. Others end up riddled with civil unrest or war. Regardless, forces beyond that of the individual tear apart homes and cultures constantly. We never learn. Peace keeping missions have seen a drastic decrease but they are only a deterrent. Until we as a species have no differences whatsoever we will continue this destructive cycle.

Wars are fought for one reason -- MONEY! Yes, many can say they (wars) are fought for land, natural resources, religion, and many other reasons, but the ROOT OF ALL WARS IS MONEY. The men who control the world, the elite globalists, will make fortunes if the world is at war. The globalists lend money to both sides so they always win, plus they OWN the world's banks, and war brings in big money! My son, I have said in previous words to you what will be the wars to come, but only a few read and believed Me. Here is the list again of who will go to war. There will be wars ON the earth, IN the earth, and ABOVE the earth. Space will be littered with so much debris that will fall to earth as shooting stars. (I understood and saw this to be WAR IN SPACE with the targeting and shooting of satellites, etc., and debris orbiting the earth falling and getting knocked out of orbit, entering into the atmosphere, and burning up and/or crashing.) (Note: I want to clearly emphasize that the following list was not given in sequence or in any kind of order. Also, it is not a complete list of the wars that will break out around the world and the nations that will be involved in these wars. The Lord has previously shown me other nations that will also erupt into conflict to the point that the entire world will be at war. I was not told when and in what order any of this will take place, but was only told very soon. It is all in Gods timing, not ours. At the same time as the Lord was speaking this list to me, He was also showing me a vision of each of these events happening.) 1. America will continue to be in war until the end (of America as a major power). She will fight on a multitude of fronts and be spread so thin that a draft of young men will be called on. 2. America will attack Iran after a major false flag event will draw the nation (America) in. Many men will die as Iran is backed by Russia and China. 3. China will attack Taiwan. The U.S. will try to stop China, but cannot. America backs away (but not completely) because the fight against Iran is difficult. 4. With America tied up with Iran and China, North Korea invades South Korea. North Korea also sends a nuclear missile to Japan. 5. As Americans become enraged (over what is happening), Russia sends over an EMP attack to America. With America now in the dark, Russia will wait until the majority of Americans kill each other, die, or commit suicide. (I saw massive, massive chaos and hysteria everywhere over every part of the entire country, roving gangs, people killing for food, and everyone only concerned with one thing -- survival!) Then both Russia and China invade America. 6. America sends nuclear rockets toward Russia (after the EMP strike), but the Russians are prepared and they survive. (Russia practices disaster preparedness drills with moving their people into underground shelters.) With America now in the dark, the US military and the UN forces will be in control. Martial law will be declared, and many Americans are killed in battles. 7. Russia takes over Venezuela and takes control of the oil. 8. The world's economy will be in shambles -- the whole world is at war. The seals have been opened, and the Antichrist will bring PEACE TO THE WORLD. (I saw all the money being thrown out into the streets and it blowing around in the wind everywhere because it was worthless.) 9. Millions of people will vanish as there will be a mighty revival and harvest of souls during the judgments. (I was not shown when this will occur during the events/Tribulation.) Now Jacob's Trouble begins. My son, all these words have been said before so My Remnant will know what is coming very soon. The Time of Judgment is here as I have also said many times. My Body WILL WAKE UP, and they will HIT THEIR KNEES and STAY on them, for they will be bloodied from so much prayer!! My Children WILL walk in GREAT FAITH!! They will have need of nothing, for I will be their God, and I will supply their every need!!! Many parts of the world that have not seen such battles will be in shock. The men who fought in the last Great War saw such sights. Many of those Warriors are at home here with Me. My son, I say all this NOT to put fear in My Body, but to WARN AND PREPARE them! Many will see death and destruction all around, but FEAR NOT!! These events are but the wars that will occur! There will also be natural events, unnatural events, man-made events -- these are but the Judgments of the Days of Sorrows. These events are NOT the Tribulation, for those days will be far worse! The Great Tribulation spoken of will be like never before seen on Earth at any time! Have your houses in order, for the War Events are now in gear and moving forward at great speed! I love you all, but GET READY for the Time of War is at hand, and you MUST be prepared!! I AM coming soon, but not soon enough for some. The Time to skid in on the last minutes of the Period of Grace is NOW! Please Pray, Dear Heavenly Father, i turn to you today, I repent of all my sins. I believe that your Son Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, and was resurrected to life on the third day, and forever more he lives. Father, I ask of you to baptize me with the Holy Spirit right now, Change my heart, and renew my spirit. I forgive myself completely, and I completely forgive others who've done wrong against me, and have hurt me.. I invite you Jesus, to enter into my heart; change me, Save me, and be Lord of my life. Right now, in your mighty name, I pray, Amen!

This is NASA clown fake crap at its best, i live in melbourne australia . melb and sydney dont even register a dot or two.... really. luckly they covered their asses with forest fires? in central australia all over the place..... i didnt hear much about that in 2016? Obviously the NASA photoshoppers dont know we all live on the coast and central australia. It would be way less populated that north Korea. kangaroos, cattle, camels and rabbits dont carry torches.... So apparently theres fires in Central aust, not just central aust, the entire middle apparently. @@user-jx8oj4si3j it's a long story dear, it's A proxy war, Russia against USA, Iran against Turkey, but the ones who dies are all Syrians a lot of terrorist organizations participated in this war like ISIS and HTS... etc, and they all fight against the Syrian Government but still, Syrian government is not that good government, and we are suffering from corruption, poverty, economic crisis especially with the American sanctions against us. Now most of Syrian cities are safe under the government control supported by Russia, but as i mentioned we are struggling now from an economic crisis that made us struggle to get our primary needs, the main reason for the current economic crisis is the Kurdish forces "supported by USA" who are stealing our oil and firing our Agricultural lands.

Just like most images are made from several smaller images. The screen you're looking at right now to read this is showing you an image that is made from thousands of tiny lights, each showing you a minuscule image that consists of a single colour. And all of these tiny lights forge together a bigger image that you can view and comprehend.
