How old Tyres are Remanufacture in Factory with Hot Retreading Technique || Tires Retreading Process

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The Hot retreading technique uses a mold in which they are heated above 150 degrees Celsius. This technique is used when you need to get the right shape of the tires. By vulcanizing tires at almost 150 degrees and upwards, it is possible to essentially change the threads and tire shape, and this is what Hot Retreading aims to do.

This is the Bandag process, developed by the Germans in WWII. It is a cold process, not hot. The tread (not thread) is manufactured separately and placed on the tire while cold. It is already fully formed. A thin layer of uncured rubber between the tread and the carcass is cured at about 202 degrees F, well within the operating range of a truck tire on a hot day. The older hot process wraps the old tire in raw, uncured rubber. Heat is applied, up to 350 deg. F. to make the rubber hard and to form the tread pattern. Unfortunately, this also weakens the old tire. I ran a Bandag shop back in 1969 and 1970.

During WW2, we used to call this recapping. But we never used a tire where the fabric showed. We also cut grooves in bald tires with no tread pattern showing. We also used blowout patches inside tires with holes in the sidewall. There was a national speed limit of 35mph. (for conservation)

Not that many years ago most towns had at least one tire "recapper". Then the Bureaucrats, and so called "Environmentalists" decided to get involved. At the time, "recaps" were generally warranted like a new tire, yet were usually much less in price. Now in return we get imported tires with all the attendant transportation costs and increased pollution!

when I was a kid we had Pierce Tire in town they did retreads for cars when it was still legal, they sanded down the old tread then wrapped new rubber on it then put it in one of those tire tread-making machines that heated the tire, and new rubber, like when they make new tires, those retreads were cheap to buy, this guy is just sticking premade tread on like a giant sticker, it was so cool as a kid watching them make those tires, could never do something like that now, gosh did I have fun growing up back then wold NOT want to be a kid today no way

Если промаргаешь гвоздь в колесе, поездишь на приспущеном,покрышку сразу на выброс - банально разваливается. Если следить за давлением и не гонять - не любят скорость, то нормально. In 1975 I had purchased 4 brand new Firestone 721s. While driving i95 n from florida, the treads came off and passed me on the highway. I pulled off the highway and found the nearest Firestone and had them replaced. Needless to say I made it to Charleston s.c. and the same thing happened. I was furious, I had the local Firestone refund my money (seems that they had this problem and Firestone was aware). Across the street from the Firestone was a place called Gerald's recaps. I went over there and they put on 4 recaps on my car. I drove on those tires for 100,000 miles and they still had tread on them when I got rid of the car. So depending on where you get the tires and the process they use to recap them can make all the difference in the world.

A good team with an effective distribution of tasks and chain work . Everyone knows their job perfectly and it runs like clockwork . That said , I would like to know what the lifespan of these tires would be compared to others bought new ? This profession , compared to the past, has , it seems , seen improvements since in the old way we were content to reproduce the layout of the tires using an electrically heated stylus . I must have seen this one day while passing in front of a garage which practiced this trade in the Eighties in Casablanca in Morocco. Since then I haven't heard of it until today with this video ! So it only remains for me to wish a long and happy life to the whole team and good luck to all !

in my country, retreaded tyres can only be used on lorries with with 4 tyres on 1 axle. and the retreaded tyres must from companies that are certified to do so. if the shell of the tyre are damaged, those tyres will not be retread. only good shell tyres will be use. 1 misconception on retreaded tyres is that it is easy to peel off. those tyres will not peel off if the user didn't carry exceeded limit of weight. usually it is what the weight of of the lorry are permitted to carry. if weight is more than what the lorries are permitted to carry, there will be more pressure on the tyres and it will generate more heat. then the retreaded tyres wil peel off. dont forget that, even a new tyre will also chipped, peel off or damaged if it is overweight. the user tends to carry more weight to make more profit. but this act will make it dangerous to the driver and other road users. PLEASE FOLOW THE RULES. RULES ARE NOT CREATED JUST FOR FUN.

Lots of comments from people who have not got a clue 🤣 Did you know that 65% of all commercial aircraft use Retread's ... 30% use Remoulds and only 5% have brand new tyres on (which soon get changed) Apart from the obvious things like punctures etc , the majority of tyre failures are caused by incorrect tyre pressure. Do you check your tyre pressures daily ? I bet there are not many that do...
