I feel bad for elderly drivers because people always blame them but really we should have better public transportation where people who can’t drive aren’t desperately trying to.
@CadgerChristmasLightShow

Excellent point, public transit would almost completely solve that problem. Elderly people need to be required to do testing to keep their license either way though.

They wanted to take my Dad's license away after his stroke. He had to recertify after the stroke so they had him take a test on the driving simulator. He absolutely tanked because it's not the same experience at all. He wouldn't accept the decision so they had him go to an actual driving school. He took a driving test with an instructor in the passenger seat, me in the back and the guy said he was one of the best drivers he's ridden with.

I don't know if this is contraversial, but EVERYBODY should have to retake the practical driving test with every renewal. And the test should be updated if necessary. Nobody where I live had to learn how to do traffic circles, but somebody in their infinite wisdom decided to start putting them all over the place. 3 guesses how well that's working and the first 2 don't count. For the driving topic, they need to change it to where you need to renew your license every 3 years and every should be required to take the driving test in order to get your license renewed. There are too many people on the road that should never be there.
I was 49 when I saw Lorde in concert. At one point, I did wonder why I'm taking life advice from a 21 year old, but the music did 'speak' to me.
Loved the story of nanna buying another car after hers was taken. Thats old school American lol.
I absolutely agree that there should be some kind of re-testing done for proficiency at a certain age for driving. There's a llooottt of dangerous elderly drivers on the road, but there are also some competent ones still around.

Backward hats are only acceptable until roughly 102yrs old but after that, spin that bad boy around
This might be controversial, but I personally think age is just a number, and if there is something that brings you joy and no-one is getting harmed, you should have the right to do it at any age. I think it especially applies to music. If you like a type of music younger people like, then you do you. At some point, there will most likely be a time when you can't do the things you love because of health reasons, but while you still can, live life to the fullest.

Good point. There are many people that seem to have forgotten the rules of the road. There are certain intersections that make me extremely nervous because many don't know when to yield and when they have the right of way if there are not signs. I have to stop often when I shouldn't have to because people just don't follow the rules. Or people that try to let people go when they should go first. It isn't always nice, it can really mess things up and cause accidents. Driving is scary!

AARP is the reason elderly people don't have any restrictions, they're the advocate for the elderly. Elderly drivers and distracted drivers are some of the top number of accidents in most cases. Look how many older adults drive through restaurants and store fronts.

In my small town within about 2 years , 3 separate seniors drove through the drugstore.
Once you reach like 75, you should have to pass a drivers test every few years there on after
Anyway. Besides the driving you’re never too old to do any of these things if it legitimately makes you happy. Don’t let anyone make you feel ashamed for loving what you love or for just having fun
I went trick or treating until I went to college. My thought process was FREE CANDY! My friends and I had a great time.
In Ontario Canada, at 90 you have to retake a drive test every year you choose to drive.

I would rather the big kids go trick or treating than drive to some Halloween party. Let them have fun, Grandpa Link!
I think hats are personal and individual. I wore baseball caps when I was young (teens to early-mid 20s) and I usually wore them backwards, but they were the only hats I thought I looked good in, and it wasn't for lack of trying. Then a couple years ago I started wearing slouch beanies, because I never met a lesbian cliche I didn't like, and I love how they look on me.

My great grandmother gave up driving las year, she is around 90. She is a very impressive person.
you can do whatever you want at any age (unless it endanges someone, of course) ... wear hats backwards, play in a bouncy house, trick or treat...... who cares? no one makes the rules for you. Have fun. Life is too short.
As a backwards hat wearer I feel personally attacked.
I last played in a bouncy house with and without children at a friend's wedding at age 37. And I would do it again!
In my opinion if its something that has no effect on others and is just something that makes you personally happy there's no age limit like wearing your hat backwards etc. For stuff like driving after 75 you should have a yearly simulator test like Rhett suggested but the problem is there needs to be better easily accessible support systems such as public transportation or community programs.

LOL that's a hilarious idea for something at a Bachelorette party. How did you arrive at the idea for it?
Here in Finland when you reach a certain age you have to go get checked to renew your license every 5 years, and when you get older its every year. I for one have a grandpa who's 94 and driving perfectly fine. Not necessarily to any new places anymore, but he can do the grocery store and the doctor appts just fine. Also we have a very functional public transit system so the elderly road chaos isn't really that big of an issue since they actually dont have to drive to get around.
My grandparents and mother call me for help, so I do it a lot.

Those with disabilities and those who are unable to drive safely anymore would automatically qualify. It would be the same thing as government healthcare or disability benefits.
