This feels like a jump cut infomercial.

To me the best way to learn editing is to watch the editing in movies and really pay attention to what's going on. I've been doing medical animation for 20 years and a lot of the times I end up editing the project myself. I can honestly say I never really paid attention to what I was doing until the last few years. Where and what you cut can have such a huge impact on the flow of the story or the feeling that it invokes in the viewer. School is great, but you can learn a lot by just paying attention to the content that you're watching.

(The commercial that is playing while I wait for the movie to start, is about Universities).

Love the content usually, however a little disappointed in this video, really just felt like one long ad, which is fine, but a sponsored by or intro along those lines would have made if feel like less of a switcheroo with the title.

Well... You got me. Saw the title and got sucked in. Then I realized you are promoting a piece of software. Hahahaha... The only way to become a great editor is to edit a lot of content. I've been doing it full-time for over 30 years now and still learn every day. You are only as good as the challenges that you get to solve. Time spent in the edit chair is mostly how you learn.

It's all great if you have all those important moments captured. Otherwise you have nothing to edit. Which means that before you even start shooting, you have to know what's important to the story, and have the actors act it out, because if it's not filmed, your whole story about editing is hollow.

This interactive way of presenting a course on editing begins to feel almost like a 1 on 1 tuition experience. I think it's a great idea.

Just to show my gratitude for your videos, I put myself to the test. I tried my best to follow instructions and plan out the story of my video. Normally I would make a paper mache collage of events I thought were cool to record. The best result I ever had was a completed jigsaw puzzle where it looked like someone hammered in the last pieces, if not most of them.

Hi Sven, I just watched the youtube video by 'the editing podcast' and wanted to get in touch, I was wondering if there was anywhere to watch the videos you talked about, the ones they opened up the editing bay at
