How not to rock off surfing - Sydney's Northern Beaches

How not to rock-off, surfing.
- Sydney's Northern Beaches, 23rd May 2020.
Know your limits & respect the ocean!
Funny but also painful to watch. Hope he was OK.
Massive East coast lows bringing huge 6-10ft swell is NOT the time to learn to surf or rock-off a gnarly ledge that's hectic at the best of times! - You are not Kelly Slater!

Yeah that's mad. It's obvious from how he bottled it when he made it to the edge that first time and how awkward he was once he got on his board, that he's not a competent surfer. In what world was that a good idea to do try that - surely somewhere in his thought process after that first attempt he was thinking Rocks + Big surf = Potential serious injury or death.

Agree that was hard to watch. Went from laughing to being really concerned as soon as I saw him hit the water. Lacked basic paddling skills. Friends or no friends involved, respect the ocean and know your limits!
His persistence is truly remarkable. Although hes not supposed to be in there. Never underestimates the ocean.
You got to give him props for never giving up! ... even though he should have.
They say that persistence is one of his finer qualities.
Obviously new to the whole thing... hopefully he may learn from this.♥️🇮🇪🤙
I find it more impressive that he still has fins on that board. Whoever makes that board and those fins needs to sponsor this guy. Rockoff Boards! Built Kook Tuff!
I'm filing this under "Comedy" as well as "Surfing." Thanks for the laughs!
I sooo wanted to give this guy props for even being out there and attempting it. But....when he started turtle paddling (off-balance) as another set was approaching, had to look away. Hope he's ok. I’ve fucked up a few jumps in my life but after the third trouncing I usually take it as a sign. The worst experience was getting the leash caught on something and dangling upside down getting pounded, saving grace it was dawn and no one saw it.

The learning curve for this guy is a flat line
He has never been shown when to attack. He didn't realise that speed when the set has finished is the time to go.
Mate know your limitations. Way out of your depth.
One of the few instances where persistence is NOT a virtue 😅 💯 Oh... and self-awareness.. Dude paddlin' in full startfish mode...
