How Nirvana Made DUMB
Rock is Dead? Full Film: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o4GgrsirhZjMmtY.html Nirvana is one of the most successful bands in the history of rock n' roll and popular music. Nirvana released three studio albums: Bleach (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Chad Channing, Jack Endino), Nevermind (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Butch Vig) & In Utero (Kurt Cobain, Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, Steve Albini, Scott Litt), as well several live albums such as MTV Unplugged, From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, Live at Reading, and a compilation album, Incesticide. Kurt Cobain was the driving force behind Nirvana, his songwriting propelling the band to great heights. In this video I explore some of the history behind Nirvana's song 'Dumb.'

"My heart is broke but I have some glue. Help me inhale, and mend it with you."
Kurt also said he was getting tired of people trying to put too much meaning into his lyrics

I always wanted to know the history of the infamous Smiley Logo of Nirvana.
@saulgoodman6431

Smiley” depicts the expression that Nirvana fans had on their faces during performances. Cobain used the emblem of The Lusty Lady strip club that was rather popular at his time. The club was located in Seattle, just 100 miles away from his hometown. Found this on google

Something in the Way gets loud? Combined with Endless Nameless 12-13 minutes later but otherwise it's pretty chill to me from top to tail.

Hey Spooley, what I mean is that during the chorus for something in the way it does pick up and it goes back down during the verse, whereas with Dumb it's more or less the same intensity throughout

I find it to be very level in energy for lack of a better term, the fact Kurt did part of the vocal track laying flat on his back always comes to mind. That is why we enjoy your channel, different opinions are good for opening up further discussion among fans. Very nice work on the AIC Them Bones video, btw. A fave of mine from the first listen, their first 2 albums still in my top 10 of alk time.

@@spooley Absoltuely, I love having these conversations with fellow Nirvana fans, the points you bring up are all valid, a lot of it comes down to persepctive - And thanks for checking out my AiC video, agreed it's a great track and those records are classics

Kurtz first poppy song, imho, is Spank Through
@DanielSarkissian
4 жыл бұрын
That's a great point! Spank Thru was for Fecal Matter originally though, About a Girl was the first song he wrote specially for Nirvana that was poppy, but since Fecal Matter was the precursor to Nirvana you could argue this point lol

@@DanielSarkissian and the FM version was released on a nirvana compilation. Alongside that all the performances by nirvana meant that kurt likely thought on it as a nirvana song.

Id have to disagree: i think Nirvana would do well now,maybe not such a Nirvana-mania but heck if you listen to the radio bands that truly stink make it,Nirvana would totally make it. Plus I think Nirvana would adjust for the times,not sell out,but I dunno,adjust somehow
Im not with you in thinking of them as simply ''chill'' both tracks have a freaky quality thats hard to define .
My self title album has 15
Pop music has become less about the music and more about dance routines.

I wish they did release as a single. Much better song than rape me

Pop was always cookie cutter. Even r&b was made cookie cutter pop ways if you look at how "Hitsville USA" motown records were just trying to sell records. Neil Sedaka n all. The Beatles were trying to sell records. They didnt try to make all the words 1 syllable in all the songs for the 1st few records to see what they could do artistic purposes but cause a cookie cutter minded label thought it best for memorbility
