This was super helpful - thank you! You hit the nail on the head when you said most videos show a finished horse doing everything just right....seeing a finished horse helps to set goals and direction but seeing horses that are still learning helps (me at least) to understand the process and better communicate with my horse! :)

Great Video!! Love that you let them find the right move and reward immediately, training takes time and patience 🙌I would love some info or a video on how you progress your horses from snaffle to bits ( what kind of bits) training to go into Ranch Riding.

Love, love the video. Seriously, this is one of the biggest things in horse training and its hard to find a video on!! I have a horse that does this a little better than this colt, but would love to see a video where you speed up the turn around. Not like a spin or anything, but just when you ask them to turn that they do it quickly and with intent. I just find that I always have to use so much spur. My horse is kinda sleeping and they don't give more gas to just come around. Thanks though!

Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate your comment! I need to do a video specifically addressing the way I cue my horses to speed up in the turn. But for now, here are a few videos we've done on the turnaround that may be helpful!: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zp2e1NuqZ6a9nKw.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/n357mdeBedvRd5s.html kzread.info/dash/bejne/oIyiqah7hs_ghtI.html

Quick question off of the video topic but, Do y'all think cavesons help?

Yes, but not with the intent to "tie the mouth shut". The goal is to discourage colts from chomping and playing with the bit so they don't develop bad habits or muscle memory. We adjust our cavesons to where there's a little bit of wiggle room. If the horse wants to chew on the bit a little, he can explore that option, but the caveson makes it less comfortable so he doesn't end up feeling like it's a rewarding thing to do, and it helps them get past that stage faster. Obviously, when you're showing one handed in the bridle, you're no longer using a caveson, so your horse will tell on you really quickly if he's had an underlying problem that you were simply trying to mask. 👍
