In Finnic mythology, there is no mythology about the origin of Balto-Finnic languages and there is no Finnic mythology that explains why people speak different languages. In Finnic mythology and folklore, people can easily talk to each other and understand each other without language barriers and regardless of where they are from. When you talked about the Norse, you forgot to mention how they got their runes. According to oral tradition which was recorded in the poetic Edda, Odin hung himself on the tree of the world with a spear stuck in his side for 9 days and 9 nights. This is the way that the Norse traditionally made sacrifices to Odin. So, after sacrificing himself to himself, Odin saw a vision of the Runes, which he then taught to the Norse.

Animals definitely communicate within their own species, and I maintain that they have unique languages that humans could at least partially understand, if we're willing to sacrifice the time and attention necessary. I've actually had full conversations with my cat, or with my parents' dog, or with other creatures that I associate with, though I couldn't say what was discussed even half a second after the exchange is over. So, while everything else you said is accurate, perhaps "speech" is a more accurate word than "language" regarding certain concepts.

I like to think language evolved the same way as we did. Let’s take a zebra and a mule, they might not be able to breed successfully now but they were able to just a couple generations ago. Now let’s take German and Dutch for example. Nowadays they are two different languages, but go back several generations and the languages seem even more similar and in fact had a common ancestor just like that of the zebra and mule. Now of course there are instances of loan words, but nature has a counterpart to that as well; linear evolution for example, where two completely different species use the same body types, like a dolphin and a shark. TL,DR: Darwin might as well have been a linguist

I keep debating the origin of Odin. Check it out. Odin in Old German was Wodanaz. Comparison using Eosphorus (Greek) to Auzandil (Gothic). One can see the S change to a Z, and the R changes to a D. This same change is found in another Greek name Ouranos (Uranus in latin), to Wodanaz. Tyr/Tiw is cognate to Zeus, this is known. I propose that Ouranos, is Wodanaz. Both are associated with a flood of sorts via mutilation. Ouranos being castrated and Aphrodite formed from the sea foam from his castrated member. While Odin dismembers Ymir and causes a flood. Interestingly, Iapetus the Titan son of Uranus is linked with Japheth from the Bible. Making Odin/ Uranus, Noah. Another figure connected to a flood myth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iapetus Iapetus was linked to Japheth (יֶפֶת) one of the sons of Noah and a progenitor of mankind in biblical accounts.

People can have faith in anything but should do in moderation and understand difference between them and others. For me, I don't know if God really exist or not. Maybe he did, Maybe he didn't but what's sure is that we don't have any proof and things that can't be proof doesn't mean it doesn't exist. So my faith in myth is 50/50 for me.✌
