Loved this so much! Especially your point about making content that feels good to you. I love making a solid pattern roundup, but have struggled with process vlogs, so my advice to anyone who has asked has always been to keep true to yourself and you will feel the reward intrinsically and extrinsically.

Thanks for sharing, that's so transparent 😳. I would love to hear what your goals are for KZread, like will this always be a side gig or are you working toward it as a full time job. Those would be fun videos in terms of chronically your success. Your early videos always had me in stitches 🤣 (no pun intended). Your natural humor is so inviting! All the best to you as you continue your YT and knitting adventures ☺️

I don't think I'm interested in pursuing content creation full-time. There is a lot to risk, especially as a US citizen whose health care is tied to employment. I think that it would be nice as an income stream to support my family if I ever have kids and want to stay home (although that is far off for me right now!). Thanks so much for tuning in!

Woohoo! LOVE this video Amanda! It's really interesting to see which of your videos took off and if there was a theme to your content that did well vs content that didn't. I've been in the YT Partnership Program for a couple years. As a Canadian KZreadr, in my first year of the program I made about $300 and Canada Revenue Agency took it all basically 😂(my husband and I filed joint taxes for the first time and we both work full-time jobs, so that was a factor in our total tax payments -- I owed $300 so he joked that my YT payments were basically null LOL). I'm not actively trying to monetize my hobby, but I kind of gamefied KZread so I'm always excited to see my videos take off (though none have reached the same view count as your highest). That's the worst part about YT for me: putting SO much effort into creating a video and having it flop. My 2023 on YT was better financially, but I was exhausted with keeping up with my regular life AND producing content. I'm excited to be able to have more time and energy to create content this year and I'm trying to focus on consistency with posting, since that was something I haven't been able to do in past years. Can't wait to see how you do in the future and what kind of content you create!

Thank you so so much for sharing this! I feel like I'm in a similar boat as you in that I'm in a very specific niche (bullet journaling!) that isn't typically one of those high earners like accounts talking about tech or business. It's so interesting and helpful to see what another channel around your size is doing and hear about your thought process for future content😊 I found your video from the YT strategy-related recommendations, but I'm subscribing because I also would loveee to get into knitting for a hobby haha. I have also wondered how it’s going for other creators and thought about doing a similar video but later on the year once I have a full year under my belt. Hi Lisa! The mic I use plugs right into my iPhone and it is the Shure MV88. I like it for the price, and there are certainly lots of options out there! I still edit in iMovie because I've learned it over time and it works for the current devices I have storage wise. Editing is probably the biggest learning curve but is one of those skills that the more you do it the more you get efficient and find your own style. There are tons of helpful videos out there that will help you get started with whatever software you choose. I think the best software choice is the one that you know and will use!
