Ғылым және технология

My brother has created a cryptocurrency mining rig. There are two problems though. Is it using too much power? And is is profitable?

1:28 it's not Watts it's 960VA because you are measuring the voltage and current independently and you don't know the power factor. The power given by the software is probably an estimate so may be a big wrong. It also probably doesn't take into account the losses of the power supply. You are billed for the AC power consumed not the DC power delivered. So you can probably add 10-15% to the software figure. Usually PSU for PC now have power factor correction so the 960VA is probably not that far from the actual value. The ideal solution would be to use an actual wattmeter inserted between mains and PSU. Otherwise I would use the 960*0.9=870W estimate.
