Awesome video Hamza! When I first got my GTI it felt slow, changing the DV made a massive difference. The DV you bought looks like the diaphram version - you might wanna swap it for the piston version it's meant to be more reliable especially if you tune the car. 🙂

I had the same experience as Himi, bought my GTI which felt slow, it also used quite a bit of fuel, the original DV had more holes than a wooly jumper, swapped for a rev d(? the plastic piston one) and it survived for 5 years without issue.

Very interesting video, around the three minute mark on the Dyno there appears to be a fair bit of engine movement (as you would expect on a car of that age)however is it possible it was restricting the air intake pipe? As mentioned below Intake Manifold Carbon is a possibility. I would treat a few tank fulls with RedX, it may surprise you, although it wont help clean the Intake Manifold. Keep up the good work

Know it's while ago now, but just for reference for those coming across... Don't use torx bits on hex bolts, you're wasting half the head geometry and putting all the torsional load at the apexes of the fastener head instead of the six flat faces. That, along with the fact of tools generally being made of harder metal than the fasteners they are manipulating is why you'll round stuff in high torque operations like that at about 10:00

Pity theres no boost gauge to see if its dropping off but the improvement from your new diverter will be interesting to see. No torque read out from MRC just power? Get them to do another run with the new diverter to measure what if any improvements. Car will be much noisier without back seats. I would have left those in to maintain a nice cabin feel.

You should have changed the DV before the dyno run-makes a huge difference. Car would have made over 200 hp easily

Inlet carbon build up. Clean that and you would most likely free up at the least 25bhp.

It's like trying to breathe threw a snotty nose, I've commented this on few videos about the valves. Don't think he understands what's the point tuning a turd sort the motor first. Imagine a wastegate spring after 200k prob doesn't even hold boost.

@@Az_TRL The DV was already 'gone' when I bought the car, coming from a similarly powered car, I noticed the Golf felt sluggish and not as quick as it should be, that combined with the fact you could here the hissing sound of the boost escaping when driving with windows done. The fact it felt sluggish was what made me go to the local Dyno for a power run, I was going for a remap at this time to, during the power run it made figures the same as this video and on inspection the DV was goosed. Quick change of the Valve to a revised model at the time and it was back to stock power.

yes the diverted valve has failed but I would say you it wont solve it fully you need to have the intake valves cleaned as they are ruthless for carbon buildup
