@bherber You have a very special talent, don’t feel sad at all, feel special!! as a 54 year old woman, I can tell you that this well earned talent you have will help you through the toughest of times in your life if you love to play piano 😊 Use that talent and skill to your benefit 😊 And as a 54 year old with some experience, I can honestly tell you that money doesn’t buy happiness, it’s only a resource needed to sustain yourself and to help you achieve certain material possessions you want, if you live way under your means you will see that the money you currently make is enough to sustain yourself, money is not the means to happiness.

@@Beatriz-Ana-11 - Ooo yikes, you just shot yourself in the foot. It is a skill just like anything else. Sadly electricians, carpenters, plumbers get credit, but piano players don't. I was simply referring to the upper limit on the income she was talking about. Please don't diminish it as a "special talent." Please call it an earned skill which takes a lot of practice.

Don’t let the averages make you feel depressed. The averages are heavily influenced by those who are earning millions per year. The median is a much better metric when comparing where you are currently to others in your age bracket.

I'm about to turn 24 with about $115k between a high yield savings account and stocks investments. It might sound like a lot, but keep in mind I do NOT wanna slave my life away and have to work beyond 35-40, meaning I realistically only have 15ish years to save for retirement. Also the only reason I've even been able to save this much is because I've been working since I was 18 and I still live with my parents due to the stupid high rent prices. My gross income is only about 40k and I'm able to save 28k of that per year. I eventually wanna buy a home but most decent houses in my area cost 400k+, which means it could take me at least another 10 years at this rate to buy one in full. The problem is by then, the housing prices are gonna appreciate even further, forcing me to delay my retirement plan and potentially work well into my 40s/50s. Boy our generation really is screwed aren't we🤦‍♂️

Business ownership is NOT the reliable way to go. It’s being a physician or surgeon. Steady income. Always employable. Not affected by recession. Low spending, and invest the rest. Guaranteed to become a multimillionaire by age 40. Then It’s up to you if you want to waste the opportunity.

Median is more realistic as the average can be skewed to those who earn higher.

Averages are pretty much biased by the top 1 percenters, median is more representative of most situations. Another way to look at it if you were above average (even wildly above let's say almost twice above), you'd still be far from 1 percenters. Such is the game of money accumulation.

The best time to invest was 20 years ago. Second best today. Keep your debts low (car and house) and invest the rest.... It's not fun but it really pays off.
