Transworld was a must buy, and Thrasher was never really popular around my area. Thrasher was a part of the culture and we knew it existed, but I never actually bought it. You could buy Transworld @ 400 pages as Swift said for 5-6 bucks Canadian. I skated around Toronto, Canada back in the day when Transworld videos were peaking (2003-2004) and skaters from the area I think would be tripping out as I wore Emericas, rode Zero and Almost decks. And I think Transworld was part of the reason why I liked different brands.

I had a massive collection of Transworld mags and I recently gave those away to another random skateboarder. They are better off in their hands and hopefully they are used to reflect on different era.

You're absolutely right. Transworld had the best skaters shot by the most well-known photographers. Thrasher and Skateboarder were tier two. Third tier and a bit harder to find were Big Brother and Slap. The Skateboard Mag came out and it was the most high quality thing to date. The paper quality was so good. Getting a magazine in the mail or buying one at the store is a feeling that's tough to replicate these days.

I have a large skate mag collection and many of them are skateboard mag. I like having a physical copy rather than looking on the internet.

I have every issue of the skateboard mag until they got bought by the berrics. First issue from them looked a like a trade mag and I did not renew my subscription.

Same! I have about 3 plastic storage containers full of the skateboard mag. The nostalgia that sits in those pages.

@@MADZAC123 I like old CCS (california cheap skates) magazines as well. I should have saved all mine in the 90s.

I am here in 2022 and I am thinking a magazine named Transworld has a whole new meaning that it did back in the day. Lol.

I still have all my old Skateboard Mags. Just wish I hadn't cut out all the best photos to stick on my bedroom wall as a kid 😅

Transworld always felt real good in your hands, And It had Weight when you dropped it on the counter.

1999-2009 was the best years of skateboarding. The entire 2000s was on fire. The tours, skate vids, demos, X Games, Dew Tour and all the skateboarding video games at the time. Nostalgia overload. I love skateboarding it’s like my first love. I will always have a board around me, regardless to cruise or to shred some spots. Best invention to ever be thought of

Lol my school did too. They had to start getting more copies each month cause all the skaters would check them out at the library

I have a stack of Transworlds. To me transworld was everything. From the mags to the video parts that shit was awesome.

I hold a subscription to thrasher now a days, if you skate and have a job there is 0 reason not to, but when I was a kid(the aughts) it was skateboard mag and transworld. I don't even remember seeing thrasher those days.

TWS was the Go to magazine in the 90s imo..Thick af.. i still kept the great/collectible ones to this day

Transworld was the shit. Thrasher was the little brother of magazines. RIP transworld

Transworld always had great photos. When I was a teenager, I would get one for cutting out pictures for my wall and one for reading.

Thrasher will always be my favorite but I also bought a shit load of Transworlds in the 90s great magazine still miss it

I was a Transworld skater for sure, I had a subscription for at least 3 or 4 years...bought Thrasher sometimes too but the photography and general vibe of Transworld came across as much more mysterious and striking to me...Also it had trick tips which were way better..Lotsa art...Nicer paper. Thrasher was very punkrock and not mysterious at all..and a lighter meal..I don't think I ever subscribed but maybe

I miss gas station skate mags. lol. man.

I still have few TWS mags the one with muska doing bs lipslide down steep hubba on cover ( also one of the last tricks in Fulfill the dream) Its like time capsule going thru these old magz...

My first skate magazine was big brother

Still have my 2004 poster issue

I got hella skate mag issues in jail...they always came thru...

Never dug the so cal vibe but photography was top tier.

I prefered TW back in the 80s - and that is hardly saying anything because Thrasher was awesome too...

I second that. Soundtrack and everything was just right about that video. Great montages as well.

TWS > Thrasher. Thrasher always seemed to try too hard to be edgy, can't stand that shit.

Transworld was actually far superior to thrasher. I guess thrasher merch sales killed transworld's business. That or it was the devil.
