Alright then, since the title is a bit misleading I googled it. Based on the recent 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, the (mixed) metal of the gold medal is worth $572, silver for $320, and bronze for $3.50 (it's a copper alloy). Medal design changes every Olympics so worth does change. Of course if you auction it off, you'll fetch a higher price (sometimes as much as $20k+). Not to mention your home country can award you money if you win (US gave out $37.5 k for a gold). So there, the answer is $572.

Do think ,there may not be rule like " you cant sell this medal" 🤫 Come on they may be allowed kept it but not sell it! Unless it will become so bad image... besides they have literaly compete to a level where they can actually die...so that means they are not going to sell it even if they die of hunger....all i want say is medal are symbols of confidence ,do you think someone can live with feeling selling Olympic medal? - Nopes!

Some countries offer their medallist a monthly allowance for life after winning a medal so, this video is kind of incorrect. Would be nice if those athletes were purely driven by success and honour but a little extra cash won't damage them.

CodyORB but only if you win in most cases, and even if you win the endorsement money isn't going to be there if you're not in one of the more popular sports. Also this doesn't factor in the 10s of thousands of dollars the athletes have to pay in preparation for the event, and transportation to the events required in order to be eligible. When the IOC makes over $8 billion between 2009-2012, and not a cent of that went to any of the athletes, something seriously stinks.

So if your just a newcomer in the Olympic golf team of krygzstan, and go home with no medals or no one really knowing u were even there; then no, u wouldn't make any money. So there's a strong correlation between ur relevance in ur sport and how much you make. But itsnt a direct salary type of thing.

Thank god, this happened. FIFA World Cup is now the biggest sporting event, and is the pinnacle for every footballer. Nobody gives a duck about Olympics football.... except Neymar, of course.

@@SachiraBhanu Thanks for completely failing to comprehend my point just to get into an argument that should have never existed. I called the FIFA World Cup, the biggest sporting event and is the pinnacle of every footballer. Which part of this truthful sentence shames Olympics as a whole? Only if you had made simple research to find out that the FIFA World Cup attracts more viewership and revenue than any other sporting event, you would not have chosen to come here and look stupid. Secondly, it is true that footballers do not give as much importance to Olympics football as World Cup. You don't see the World Cup reduced only for under-23s or second-string national teams. But you do see that in Olympics football. While this is true, this is only true for football, and not for every other sport. And not for once did I mean that it stood true for every Olympic sporting event. But then again, you had to make yourself look stupid.
