I started my first business with a £2 non running lawn mower I bought at a local auction. Within 3 years I was earning between £40 and £80 an hour back in the 90's and it paid for my house and two new (salvage )cars . We then moved to Dorset to care for my mother in law and I started another business buying old sofa's . The first one cost £5 off ebay and I sold it the same day I bought the trailer to move it for £75. When I retired 4 years ago I was earning £1000 clear profit a week. Most people never believe their potential ....you did ,well done that man ❤

I spent 10 years as a Mobile Mechanic - in the Rust Belt! There were not many of us back when I started - I was the only guy within 50 miles - so I stayed really busy. You learn alot about securing things in the van! I had a generator (with the exhaust going out the side of the van), a mig welder and a Air Compressor. I been wrenching now as a Master Mechanic for 34 years! Good to see you young guys carrying on the business, you have a very nice set-up. One thing that really kept things in order for me was dish tubs (bus tubs) for the parts and tools - try it!

Wow, that's really sad, it's such an amazing profession. I was a little vague about the bus tubs, I didn't use them in the Work Van, I used them to transport my tools that would be used on the job from the van to the vehicle (because it's on the ground it really keeps the tools all together in one place at your work level) and another tub for fasteners and parts (so those don't get misplaced). I learned right away when I was mobile that it was all about efficiency and that's what really streamlined me. A good professional parts dept. was Gold and I treated those guys well!@@themarvelousvlog

I really do think mobile mechanics are impressive people. The confidence to take (usually old rusty stuff) apart on the road or someones driveway means you really are committing to solving that problem in short order once you’ve started. I work on my own (and my friends) boats, cars and tractors and the amount of times I have to leave them sat on axel stands waiting for parts I’ve not thought of, or needing something pressed out, or welded before I can complete the job etc… if I knew I absolutely had to have it go back together that day, I don’t think it’s start most jobs. Fair play to you and keep up the good work 👍

i think it comes down to experience. you know the ins and outs of each job and know everything you might need to finish it. Id still much rather have a garage and have customers come to me. I dont understand some of the jobs on the channel where the car is drivable and they can take it to a garage but call out a mobile mechanic. I've been seing a lot of mobile mechanics these days on my road for cars getting worked on.

Na, he's a UK home boy :) How have you found the SGS Engineering toolbox? I prefer the Clarke HD Plus range myself from machine mart, although I don't like the drawers. I want to find a full width one for my sockets rather than split designs. It's seems stable in your videos. I was surprised, I was expecting more sockets in your kit, but you have what you need. it's good that you have went with Chip / Pin too, so many mechanics are missing out because they don't bother with a simple machine Do you have the part number of the toolkit for removing the screws? Amazing story mate! Am new to your channel and I'm addicted. How did you learn the fundamentals of how to be a mechanic? I'm interested in learning the basics doing hands on work because that's how to learn. I'm not really looking to be a mechanic but I have year 2000 V8 BMW E38. I would like to learn how do more basic maintenance on it. In fact, I have learnt lots about cars in general because of my car. For the past two years it's been leaking coolant from the thermostat into the DME and the coolant fried the DME. It has a new DME now but 3 garages failed to figure out that it was coolant which killed the DME. They thought someone did not close the ECU box and rain water went in! Last month I got brave, took my tools and removed a few parts to get to the connection and I found it soaked with coolant. It's a common problem with E38s.

Well done mate! I actually worked with BMW Mini. To get qualified, you can also get a course provided by your local motor factors which is IMI certified. It’s all about research and passion. If you’ve not got either, you’re really going to struggle. Keep it up mate!

Carpenter of 40yrs, I would encourage any young man who has served an apprenticeship in any trade to eventually start up on their own, if you are good at thinking out of the box you can't go wrong.

Bro great content, nice to see the setup! Are you using those shiny sockets in your impact? You probably know that they are not rated for the gun and can blow up in your face! You want them impact sockets black. Trying to set up mobile A/C but they want 3k just for the insurance 😱😱😱

Yhup. Unfortunately I am one of the brave ones who uses it like an impact socket. But yeah, defo would be a great investment that. When I started, my insurance was 5.5k so your quote is actually not bad

Yeah it wouldn’t be bad if it was my main thing, I’m a builder by trade so used to paying £180 for public liability 😂😂 this A/C is a new venture so just do friends etc at the moment, but they said I would have to have a motor trader insurance due to driving customers cars and working on them.

One thing I always wondered, how & where do you get the relevant torque values for the part & car you working on ? This really bothers me when I'm working on my car & googling always brings up different or wrong values. I'm not a mechanic I just owned a PSA once & had to learn how to change stuff. Also do you cover Hampshire (Winchester) area I need a clutch change but I really don't trust mechanics easily, & because you shown how you take care of your customers I know you do things correctly. I like every bolt & fastener put back but everytime my cars go for a service a clip or something is missing which really pisses me off!

I get it from AllData/Haynes/AutoData or through main dealer portals like Aos (BMW) Erwin for VAG etc… they all cost premium so it won’t be worth for a DIYer to be buying memberships. Yeah for sure we can come to you for the right price. Please leave us a message: 07599 662470 info@marvelous-cars.com Thank you!

Get a soldering iron and melt your name and phone number in all your plastic cases and tools . If you can get a metal stamp do the same with your metal tools if possible. I lost all my stuff in 2012 when a thief broke into my back garden and i still haven't been able to replace all the stuff. Drill bits where my biggest loss as i had over £2000 worth . Some where specially made with really long stems . Some where diamond ones for hard steel .
