It’s not mainstream for the rest of the world but I would still like to follow it. Lol. I’ve always loved nascar from a young age because of the legend Petty and the Earnhardt family. Somehow I see nascar as ‘balls to the wall’ racing action 😂😂

the fact that Verstappen is still leading, 8 points ahead of Hamilton despite of getting 4 dnfs still blows my mind... dude was absolute championship material this season... aggressive or whatever he's the future

For how F1 engines are built, look into Judd engines. They talk about it a bit there but those are old F1 engines. You won't see much on newer stuff as F1 is very secretive but there is some stuff out there if you look. How long they last is different for everyone and depends on how much they want to push them (see this year with Merc and Red Bull taking more engines, and as a result, penalties, to push their engines more.) But generally it's ~7 races. 21 races a season, so 3 engine changes which means no penalties. Changing engine modes between quali and race is banned as of this year (or last I can't remember). "Party mode" used to be quali mode and that's not allowed anymore. As for in-race changes they make you'll likely never know what it means other than the number. Like on radio them saying "change engine mode to 84" means nothing to us but it does to them. It could be faster or slower depending on how they want to race and they don't want other teams knowing that because they can strategise around it. If you want more info, checkout Driver61's channel (the guy in this video) or come over to Reddit on /r/F1Technical and there's loads of information in the wiki and the posts.

Nothing exceeds the development cost of F1 components. Even labor is much cheaper than what those things cost to design and build.

@@RR-us2kp Yes it wouldn't exceed development costs, but development isn't included in the cost of the part that's a running expense. Part costs include material and manafacture. R&D is separate.

I'd imagine the entire team is on salary so the cost of labor of replacing parts is pretty minimal

Amazing video and very informative. I feel like I learned a lot. What I enjoyed the most was learning about the "Survival Cell". I am glad F1 uses them. (: Oh the drivers are as well.

Yeah the R&D usually isn't a factor in this, it's just how much it would cost for a replacement. If it were, the prices would be much much higher.

Love the link up with @driver61 that's a combo that we need to happen again...... .... However, at 8:36, slightly triggered (not that deep, just an opinion, please read on) at how you used Bottas and not Grosjean as an example of the safety. That there in '19 was a absolute horrendous crash but he came out unscathed....unless I've missed the main point, but this is my 2 cents/opinion, would love to have a discussion if anyone thinks different

Good thing they showed Valtteri and Lance bowling the entire field in Hungary. IMO if a crash like that happens in the next seasons, the driver who caused the crash and their team must be the one that gets financially penalized or have a grid penalty. It also seems silly that some teams received grid penalties for no fault of their own.

I was at the first formula E race in Beijing. On the final corner of the final lap, a car flipped over, my wife and I ran into the track after the race and picked up handfuls of carbon fiber body. Still have those body parts here at home.
