How Much Does my Toyota Flex?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This week we are out testing the new rear suspension setup in my 1989 Toyota Pickup. Does it flex better with the Chevy 63" Leaf springs? Of course!

time for longer shocks in the rear! Clearly the 63's are limited by the shock stroke

Having a hard time finding a spot to max your suspension travel is a good problem to have! I have the same issue with my long armed TJ!

Hey can you tell me more about your drive shaft? Did you have to shim the axle or use a double cardan rear drive shaft?

Step 1 Can of Right stuff on the back tire beads Step 2 0-2psi all day long. 2psi front 0psi rear. Drive it on the road home aswell.🤘🏼👊🏻 you will be going anywhere. You won’t look like you struggle so much.. been doing it for over 25 years on every shit tire and hood tire possible. Ask max how his truck does with his pressure that low. He was kind blown away.

Oh we know! We have dropped them to 2 PSI, it's amazing how much better it is in the snow! The goal here was not wheeling though, and I really did not want to drive home on pavement. Plus no hose for my compressor or combustible to put tire back on bead just in case.

Save up for solid axle. I have a 93 too. Went from ball joint lift to bracket lift then long travel. Wish I would have just gone solid axle from the beginning.

Because I bought Toyo MTs a few years ago and they are still good. I find the Toyos are decent at pretty much everything, including road manners. Where dedicated off-road tires can be amazing in snow or mud, but you are making compromises on road manners, and swampers specifically are massive hockey pucks and cut through snow to the ice and just spin, they need lots of deep powder and big power.
