Yes it can be done for less, and for a lot more. The point is to give a high level breakdown to give folks a rough idea. Also keep in mind this includes ZERO engine mods.

@@xaviercrowley7517 If you're building a new engine and need to buy pistons, then yes as there's not much of a difference in cost at that point (maybe a couple hundred bucks) so it makes sense. But changing it will just come down to what you want. It helps with low end power, and more displacement will help spool a big turbo easier. But for the average setup it's not needed really. The one exception to that I guess is if it's a heavy chassis like an Audi A4 or Avant or something then it needs all the help it can get.

Went to go and drive it out it in gear release the clutch and car does not stall or move and I tried every gear. Took off the clutch put a brand new throw out bearing in put it all back together and still nothing. So I’m gonna assume that it needs a clutch which was my first guess but could there be any other possibilities like tranny or maybe even the clutch lever in the transmission or maybe even shift linkages. If you have any ideas it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Most of it's junk, so although can work, it will generally fail prematurely or provide subpar results comparably. We've used "ebay" in many cases... typically it always ends up the same... buying twice. We try to build good reliable street cars, or track cars which are getting heavily abused. So using parts that are failure prone just doesn't work in those instances, or are not worth the risk/investment.

All this money, for stock Engine? Breaking barrier of 400nm and you're also breaking the engine for sure :D At least give it forged pistons. 1.8t are fun flexible engines, and you can throw any ammount of money at them. For 300KM+ I would go with hybrid K04-064, it has nice spool from low RPM or TD04. 620CC injectors. Fuel pump same, or DW65. Flywheel, VR6 in kevlar. And what bothers me, are BOV's, why touch them if engine is desinged to run on DV.
