How much boost can this little 2.2 turbo make?

After fixing a few more things on the shelby charger, we were finally able to hit the road!

Had both an 86 and 89 Dodge Daytona. Back in the 90's you could get 400hp out of that 2.2 with the Mopar parts.

I think the Dodge Interceptor in the movie The Wraith modified that Mitsubishi setup to twin turbo and got 400hp out of it.

@brotatochipp1129 nobody 'helped' Chrysler. The og 2.2 was somewhat modeled after the VW 1.7, but the 2.2/2.5 na and turbo engines were all built by Chrysler.

It's funny seeing that car all Sh*t Canned ! The wife ordered a Turbo Z back in 85 and I spent years playing with it. Mancini Racing 2.2 liter short block bigger Garrett turbo waist gate bleeds straight pipe exhaust with Super Trap muffler , fully ported head. Ran an 11.7 1/4 mile at 117mph once on slicks with AC ! Kept melting the #3 piston no way to monitor boost and fuel rate back in the 80's. With a Turbo timer and MSD rev limiter you could hold one of those 2.2 liters together these days . Good Luck Man ! 👊😎👍

The shift problem is likely to be the plastic sockets that connect the shifter to the transmission -- they tend to wear out and cause that problem. There are still problems with that engine because it should pull way stronger than that.

And Camaros. Both those big guys lost until '94. When Chrysler brought the Charger back in 2006, they pretended the '80s never existed. F them since.

@@Vicus_of_UtrechtI agree, I remember watching a commercial for the Challenger and Charger and they seem to have skipped the 80’s and 90’s. Without these 80’s Chargers and Challengers, Obnoxious douchebags wouldn’t be able to enjoy the new ones.

Man, what I wouldn't do to have that Daytona. I really miss those cars. I had a 1990 Dodge Spirit with the 2.5 turbo I and I loved it, until I took a corner under boost and the oil sloshed away from the pickup, which caused it to spin a bearing and it broke a connecting rod. I'd really like to have that Daytona and swap in either a 4G63t or a Neon SRT-4 engine (an A853).

It seemed like the earlier dead cylinder issue was ignition related, but the light misfire that goes away in boost may be either head gasket related, or possibly a valve/seat issue.

I had one of these. When it would start missing I would switch the middle two spark plug wires and start it. It would backfire out the carb. The I would switch them back and it would be fine.

Engine miss may be blown head gasket. Drove these turbos for over 30 years. Many gaskets. Some butt heads never use a torque wrench when they should. ( overtightened wheel lugs.) You have a neglected beater of a car.
