    It wasn't the money. It was the fact that the UFC stopped allowing IV bags to rehydrate. After he couldn't make 145 any more he fell off. He never had much success at 155.

    I understand what you’re saying but, explain him sucker punching old minute bars, explain him attacking peoples religion, culture, attacking peoples families what is that to do anything with MMA or with money. It seems more like he has enough money that he can be who he really wants to be without necessarily facing any repercussions. Not sure if you know this but, the old man that he sucker punched at the bar, after he settled with the old man and the old man did not press charges, Connor bought that bar and then banned that old man from ever coming back. That is just a lowlife piece of shit thing to do.

All cards fell into his hands the way they should and he played them all masterfully. Now he has a lifetime in front of him to enjoy fruits of his success. McGregor made Aldo too angry to think strategically which ultimately ended up in his victory. He used the same strategy against Khabib but it instead backfired completely in his face to the point where Khabib was just a few seconds away from completing his promise of permanently changing Conner’s face by almost breaking his jaw and after the fight a big brawl starting. Would’ve been interesting to see if Connor fought Aldo and Khabib without angering the respective champions so he can strip their belt. Mental warfare is also a part of the game, but man did they have two big different outcomes.

  • @murraysaucedo897

    Thing is by the time he got to Khabib he had lost to Diaz and Mayweather and I believe he had acted cordial towards Alvarez after beating him. Going against Aldo it was one of those where that aura of being a legit savage was in its prime but that gradually wore off. In boxing, fighters like Roberto Duran had a similar situation where he insulted Hall of Famed Sugar Ray Leonard and beat him in the ring only to be embarrassed and made to quit on his stool in the rematch.

  • @MrMMAJER

    @MrMMAJER

    One of the biggest "what if" in UFC. And a pretty unfair situation regarding the usual standards of the organization, because even in those days dominant champions got the immediate rematch, but not Aldo. And the reason is it was the worst choice for the UFC in terms of cost/benefit, risking having Conor lose to Aldo was too much, the hype train would have suffered a lot of damage, and that would translate to lesser money for the UFC out of milking Conor's popularity.

    He did what no one else has ever done before (win two belts in dif weight classes, fight one of the greatest boxers) His persona/act that sold the fights became him IRL eventually because that’s what people wanted to see. When you act too long and the world revolves around you, you kind of lose yourself along the way.

    Something I hate to talk about, because I’m still learning focus, is what everyone says about doing one thing. There’s truth in focusing on a single objective, but like you said, he fought, he won, he lost, and he did what he set out to do. I think that calls for a reevaluation, and new wood to be burned for the sake of a new fire. Having worked out in gyms, you don’t get to UFC if you don’t love fighting, so I don’t want to say the love is gone. But it’d be interesting to hear what pushes him now, or if breaking his leg still haunts him

    He's wrecking his reputation. Getting in fights with security after trying to get MGK's autograph: Literally every way that goes down is an L for him. Stupid bar fights he's not even winning. L. Alleged violence against women on a boat, L. The thing about that shit talk was that he backed it up. He called his shots and then he made them. That's ballsy and impressive. That's what Shane Warne used to do in Cricket, he'd literally do a little tutorial for the kids at home in breaks showing all his spins, and the other side could still see it, and he'd still wreck them. He did not care if you knew what he was doing because he knew that he outclassed you and projected that confidence. But "She's in my DM's" shit? Arguing with bouncers? It's fucking weak. At a certain point you've got to rein in your confidence and remember that people like you because you make good, targetted cracks that promote the fight, not sad, overblown wet farts of statements at better fighters.

If he really wants it and gives everything I have no doubt he wins that fight, and Chandler is good enough that Conor can really try to revive his career after that with the hunger he has to find to win. I don't really see Conor as a someone who would be coming back "legacy" in mind for one fight and retiring after winning that. Another viewpoint: It was bound to happen regardless of his success. He was amazing at featherweight with his karate stance, longer reach and shorter opponents. But lightweight in the UFC is the most stacked out all weight divisions. There's no way he would of beaten them all and much less defended the belt. Money just became a way for him to still brag when he loses.
