Leland Tyler Wayne (born September 16, 1993), known professionally as Metro Boomin, is an American record producer, record executive, and DJ. He is known for his dark production style and its influence on modern hip hop and trap. He has become famous in the music industry for his producer tags "If Young Metro don't trust you, I'm gon' shoot you" and "Metro Boomin want some more, n****", respectively spoken by frequent collaborators Future and Young Thug. He has worked with various artists such as The Weeknd, 21 Savage, Drake, Travis Scott, and Kanye West.
Raised in St. Louis, Wayne began his music career as a producer in 2009, at age 16; he relocated to Atlanta to attend Morehouse College in 2011 and continued to work extensively with Atlanta-based artists Future, Young Thug, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, and Migos. Wayne gained mainstream success after producing the song "Tuesday" by iLoveMakonnen and Drake, which reached number 12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Wayne subsequently produced the U.S. top-20 singles "Jumpman" by Drake and Future and "Low Life" by Future featuring the Weeknd before attaining his first number one with "Bad and Boujee" by Migos. He followed this with "Congratulations" by Post Malone, "Tunnel Vision" by Kodak Black, "Mask Off" by Future, "Bank Account" by 21 Savage, and his second U.S. number one "Heartless" by The Weeknd.
Wayne released the collaborations Savage Mode (2016) and Savage Mode II (2020) with 21 Savage, DropTopWop (2017) with Gucci Mane, Perfect Timing (2017) with Nav, Double or Nothing (2017) with Big Sean. Wayne's debut studio album Not All Heroes Wear Capes (2018), and its follow-up, Heroes & Villains (2022), both debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. The latter of which spawned the single "Creepin" alongside The Weeknd and 21 Savage, which reached the top ten in several countries, including the U.S., where it peaked at number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Metro Boomin's highest charting U.S. single.

Metro was the reason why i started making beats when i was 14. im from Germany and even people who dont know anything about music production, know metro boomin or have heard this name before. no wonder, every successful song in 2016,17,18 had the metro producer tag, you couldn't overlook it.

Let's not forget that Metro Boomin executive produced What A Time To Be Alive, the collaborative mixtape project by Drake & Future. It debuted on Billboard 200 at #1. So true perfect timing is an amazing listen and without a doubt is nav’s second best project too
the early years with Metro, Southside, Tm88, Sonny Digital, Wondagurl & so many others gave such a staple for that darker sound. They really don't get the credit they deserve like the artists do, but i'm glad producers are becoming more personalities and bigger names dropping albums. Not to compare the 2 because they were both different times & being locked in together for a significant amount of time is different but it's cool to see producers still follow in the footsteps of the Chronic of having recurring characters like Offset, 21, Travis & others throughout Metro's albums. Keeping that tight team but still being able to experiment and expand with new talent too is only gonna make him get better nd better. Heroes & Villians I thought was really great. Not All Heroes too but I can't wait to see more.
W video Volks! I honestly love these videos because you could feel the research, passion and effort when you watch them. The Abel videos are always my favorite, specially “After Hours”, but these one are just on the same level. Keep it man much love 🫶🏽💙
Stop the cap, Perfect timing was a piece of art & you can clearly hear Nav inspired + changed Metro's melody and drums. You might not like Nav but his production is undeniable.

Metro Boomin is the only reason I enjoy trap music. Lyrically I think the writing can be lazy at times, but laid over the right beat, you can rap about anything and make it sound good. The true art of modern trap music is in the beat, not the flow or lyrics. IMO
