Finally someone is talking about this, melees used to be the thing that made the game enjoyable for me and the fact that not only they removed all the mechanics for melees that semi-stopped guns and even the sprint lunge while guns mostly only got buffs is sad, I had patience for the game til now but I can't play this anymore lmao, it's just not fun. Also thanks for putting my ms paint drawing that I made in two minutes in the video.

Man i wish they remake the melees instead of guns, literally almost all updates are just guns updates.

Stamina drain wont fix it as that was already done but the stagger mechanic kind of existed before 1.3, essentially, big melees could stop you from shooting when you got hit for a small fraction of time and used to even cancel reloads.

i get your point but getting levels in this game takes ages so its pretty much impossible to get anything more then a g17 if you dont have armory pass. thats pretty much the only way to get good stuff.

ive noticed with the crowbar the hitbox for breaking crates, doors and safes doesn't work sometimes either

It’s also worth mentioning that on low end computers the melees literally won’t work half the time I usually am stuck on 40 frames a second (embarrassing ik) and with debug on, the hit box won’t trigger until the swing is like, halfway done. (I’ve never had an issue like this on other melee based combat games btw it only happens on criminality)

Here are some of my personal ideas for a melee fix: 1) They need to allow us to be able to sprint while swinging, again. The reason why this is a needed change is because, as he mentioned, people can just run away from you. Currently, if you're using a heavy melee like a metal bat or shovel for example, after you swing, you will get slowed down by a lot and they can just keep sprinting and outrun you with no problem. This is a really big issue and needs to be adressed because it makes heavy melees practically useless. 2) You should get some of your stamina back if you land a hit on someone. To balance this out, melees should use up more stamina. This should reduce spam and reward actually hitting someone. Also, some melees like the balisong and shiv need to have higher stamina usage (currently it's 3 and 1). 3) They should revert the melee hitboxes to the ones used pre v1.3 or completely remake them. 4) Other than blocking, they should add a parry mechanic which will be a high risk-high reward type of move that will possibly use up a lot of stamina but also stun the enemy if timed correctly (although it will request very precise timing). This would make melee fights less spammy and could counter rage doses. Only a few melees would have the parry ability though (probably the high tier ones). Now, they *could* also add back the stun that melees had on gun users, but that would be way too much in my opinion.

If criminality doesn't fix melees then every melee main will flock to havoc because of the trailers showing them to be ACTUALLY VIABLE and NOT WORTHLESS

not only that melees used to disable guns firing for 1 second and could lunge and sprint to catch up to mfs that keep running away

the most simple fix is to just revert the fire sale so guns like aks are a luxury, not something everyone who plays standard has, and just decrease the damage that guns do. they already started doing this with sawn off when it was 13x8, enough to 1 shot to the body, then it became 12x8 which is just short of 1 shotting to the body

melee is ok on casual mainly as ambush or third party weapon, or for a cheap way to help defend yourself if gun runs out of ammo but yea everyone on standard spams medium range weps with good positioning so melee tends to be a joke

The main reason why melees suck is because of raycast vs ping/latency basically from your pov it looks like you hit them but due to 2 things. one sever/ ping advantage, basically every body has a base 50 ping plus however much your latency is, and that can result in the other player being able to hit you without you being able to hit them and 2, attackers advantage with raycast who ever hit first will kill first. Simple fix is just to make Melees hitscan to balance out the brain dead fire power of guns. This raycast vs ping thing applies to all games that use this system btw including cv. i feel like melee would be fine if the hitboxes worked, but another thing i'd like to see would be a temporary stamina buff when you hit an enemy with a melee to help deal with people just running away.

the only way to save melees is to give it a faster swing time like they did in v1.3 where you could swing bats like they were weightless or they could alternatively remove the swing slowdown where you could lunge attack like in v1.2, the only reason why melees are still a bit viable are because of the small amount of stamina it takes

I made an entire video about hitboxes sucking, but criminality's hitboxes are just coded wrong, they dont even suck because of latency, they just error and dont work, like holy shit, why has RVVZ not fixed this.

I prefer sledge hammer then shovel cause its just makes me feel good the dopamine rush and the silliness to see someone gets flung off a roof just makes me feel good :)

katana is awesome, dont slow you down and doin someone cripple in 2 hits and the 3rd swing is the best part, but that 5 space that is takes is killing me

1:12 as if you can't just make them miss all the shots by jumping, then again there's a 50/50 chance where you'll either die when you're 5 fucking miles away from them or actually make them miss all there shots imo they should make the melees have 1.3 speed where it's weightless but SOME weapons should have it especially metal bat/shovel [not katana ofc cause we all know balanced that is] pretty sure metal bat only ragdolls them up to tier 1 helmet, anything after that just stuns them [tier 2 & tier 3 helmet, assuming it isn't the 3rd swing not sure if that still can ragdoll them] sledgehammer is like if the metal bat and fireaxe had a baby, just get rid of it's decap ability

Metal bat can stun up to t2 helmet and 3rd swing stuns t3 but I'm not sure about the 3rd swing stunning t3.

RV can do one thing and one thing only,to make guns expensive like in good old days.I really like melles and i dont want to see them being bad.

one problem with melees is that if a melee ray hits a cash register, the rays turn green which makes the rest of the hits not register if you hit the person after the rays hit the register

Yep, registers, safes and doors have melee hitbox so rip people who died like that

Fix melee steps: Step 1: stamina regen WHENEVER you hit the target (gives you back the swing you used+ another one) Step 2: fix hitbo- ALRIGHT ALRIGHT, hitboxes depend on players ping and FPS, they are more like a roblox issue than criminality itself. Step 3: give guns actual recoil. Step 4: more melees :), and maybe special moves for them. Step 5: CRIMINALITY MELEE SKIN CRAT-

another thing: melees use stamina, guns do not. this gets worse when you consider you need to rush your targets to use a melee, unlike guns. oh, and, you get slowed further when swinging. not much but can still be very annoying at times.

Criminality melees is one of my favorite melees and quite too simple unlike combat warriors has one with raycast that makes my own melee game, but due the problem is balancing and time to kill. This video shows why guns is such a menace.

Cucked many times by melee hitboxes because it's shitty and beaten many times by guns due to how overpowered the guns were.

Have the old gun prices but keep the current melee prices because 950 to 250 is a 700 dollar drop

This is one of the rare cases were the developers listen, theyre making a gamemode just for melee weapons plus redoing the animations and hitboxes to make them more consistent, i think melees are getting the treatment they deserve now

Honorable mention to the golf club 😤

Think the buff for melees is that they should have their own separate stamina and that all melees shouldn't get a movement speed penalty. Another buff should be to prevent a gun user from shooting when hit with a melee and the amount of time is dependent on the weapon's swing speed.

I mean i have good way to balance the guns and melees just make it so it can block bullets use stamina and against different guns it will either block all the damage like a Beretta or reduce the damage like a. Deagleand also buffing the stamina is good too

If they made the chainsaw rely on sectors-07s absurd gas prices instead of stamina and allow you to jump regularly with it it might be good idk

Rage dose should give melees a chance against gun users like buffing their swing speed, stronger damage and cooldown slightly decreased. They should also return the 1.2 melee mechanic where you don't slow down when you use light melees which I know it's an OP thing but it's to balance the guns and melees because melees were underpowered a lot after 1.4 came around.

you can easy evade a melee user just going up into a ladder, going to a high place etc

the hit at 2:31 is a miss since tiny amount of space that does not hit, if you are in debug mode then you could see how that wouldn't hit, also the hitboxes are fine it is mostly ping problems when you dont hit someone.

sledgehammer is really bad its only good for ambushing and killing people with heavy armor if they dont have teammates since they are slower and you can actually hit them also you can stop the fast stamina drain while drinking soda if you just stop sprinting while youre drinking since you get slowed down anyways and they could make it so that you flinch when you get hit by a high tier melee like in 1.2

thanks bro for clearing this up ive had this problem when 2.0 released melees are literally unusable at least in standard because a gang of 3 with tier 2 armor and modded aks just pull up to me in casual it might be fine since most casual players are either really low levels or just braindead. I think the "limited time gun firesale" thats been around for a year now has also made melees inferior even in cost. remember when the db was 550 dollars or the glock 17 was 900? i know for a fact that rvvz is about to add gun bashes to make melees even more useless than they already are

I have gotten a 7k t2 kit with sledge hammer to the head (instant knock down + broken kneck) so id say sledge hammer is pretty decent against kits

Guns too easy and powerful? I mean a shot gun to the head should kill but doesn’t so I think maybe it’s a bit wanky but like, it’s a gun vs a melee, you’ll need a very good weeve and dodge play. So point 1 is just get better with your tactics too get that kill with melee because guns overpower you 2 yeah the hit boxes suck unless you talk about those kids who hit you 100 meters away with a sledge 3 well like no crap bro but yeah the leg thing should be fixed 4 yeah but 1k for a pistol isn’t that cheap tbh. But the crates need to be nerfed as it’s just a brawl and no skill or basically new players with prime just third party and you die so often to gun off spawn users. 5 don’t use any knife besides butterfly or taiga because that’s all that’s good, heavy’s are good besides the shovels hitboxes so hit HIGH, and everything else is fate game besides the kill or get destroyed by using just chainsaw
