Game Theory's own MatPat made KZread history this month by officially stepping away and retiring from his shows Game Theory, Film Theory, Food Theory, and Style Theory. MatPat's Final Theory was released on March 9th, 2024, making it official. And I actually got to be a part of the finale in a pretty unique way! So today, I wanna talk about how MatPat and I made you cry…with music!

So you’re MatPat’s MUUUUSIC MAN lol 😂 Loved this little deep dive into your music it was fun😊
It was really interesting to hear you added the repeat of the end notes without even really thinking about it, like it was instinct. When I heard it for the first time I thought it was incredibly calculated because it was just so perfectly placed. Mark of a good musician, you just know :)
Dude, you made a certifiable banger, and absolutely somber yet triumphant rendition of Science Blaster. I legit was like "god damn, I wish there was a full rendition in that style". Good job man, you absolutely killed it (side note, it also gave me the feels, THE FEELS MAN! AHHHHH!). Edit: also I would LOVE to hear more music stuff from you, be it breakdowns or even your own compositions original or otherwise. You're incredibly skilled with a guitar, and I feel like I've just never known that the man behind the awesome Game Theory and friends intros were largely done by you.
Oh, dude, you wrote that music? That was the part that really got me smiling, I've hoped for a clean version release at some point. That's awesome you did it!
dude that song at the end of matpat's last video actually gave me chills. and thanks for explaining the process behind how you made it. fascinating and incredible stuff.
9:20 Was not expecting this flex but omg this sounds amazing
You are such a good educator, I don’t know anything about music and it was still entertaining and I could follow along easily. Round of applause for this guy!
I watched matpats gtnotlive on his retirement and he mentioned you, and I thought to myself “this guy must be really talented to make something like that” and then I just stumbled across your channel now!
Came here after watching Tom's 1st VA video full on poppy playtime Man...that's quite a journey And hopefully the theorist channel keep having your music covers coming as you are part of them afterall
I genuinely didn't know you've made music! I really loved this track. The part where all the new hosts are saying their lines and the loop at the end is just AWESOME!

I am so proud of you. I am so happy that you were a part of this. Would you ever do about series learning an instrument? I think that would be cool.
10:12 Speaking of Vibes... a wet vibraphone backing that initial chord the piano plays at the start of each phrase would be great to add ambiance as well as a sizzler to a sustain cymbal doing pianissimo quarters. As well as a strong timpani at the end of the piece as a concluding sendoff. If people who are not affiliated with music understand that, I would be heavily impressed.
thank you, MatPat for everything❤️

I am definitely saving this video because i have to compose a 15 minute sound track to a short film 😅 and this is a good basic idea. Thank you for composing all the stuff on the channels because your music is one of the most nostalgic parts.
genuinely, I would love to see more videos like this ryder. i'm a musician whose currently in high school but hoping to go on to study composition at a conservatory. and i can hands down say your work has been a massive influence on that ambition, particularly the food theory theme, as the discussion around you writing it made me actually realise that being a freelance composer was actually a possible career, and one that i wanted to pursue at that. so to hear more about how you compose, or even just talk about music more generally is something that i would really love to see more of.
We all miss Matpat, but his legacy will live on forever. Miss ya, Mat

Dude, you are so talented! That music gave me chills. I also know you did the track for Let Me Explain Studios "Bei Mir Dist Du Shoen" cover, which was great as well. And you can edit AND you can write. Your just great man, I hope you know that.
Thank for everything you contributed to The Theorists, Ryder. I remembered your show, and while I'm sad that you couldn't be part of the channel forever, I like what your doing right now with your own work. Keep on going, man and thank you for the amazing "The Game Theorist Symphony" as a sendoff to MatPat and Stephanie. Hope that Avatar video goes well. Keep rocking on!
seriously though i love music theory. hearing how different motifs can work together in different arrangements. knowing it is just basically math but fun. and the final music was so impactful. strings are always a great choice for something emotional.
the oboe melody gives *strong* legend of zelda majora's mask vibes and i am here for it
This video was fun to watch! I absolutely cried at the end of that Game Theory video. Your music & voice contributions over the years have made the channels even more special! And let's not forget your GTLive appearances! 😂

Love this. Instantly recognized the "Erhu" instrument too since it's used in Warframe's iconic "This is What you Are". Such a distinct sound.
Continue pursuing music because you are so talented! Absolutely bawled my eyes out when the music started playing. You’re amazing!

You’re so very talented Ryder 🤩 I must admit as devastated as I was during the final scene of Matt’s last Game Theory, your track made it so hard to feel genuinely feel that sadness. The snare felt like the heart beat of the entire mix and was personally one of my favourite elements beside the dissonance in the final climax. I would seriously LOVE more music content from you, I found the way you explained certain techniques and such so easy to understand!! Would love to have an upload of the “boss theme” version and the rock band version, hell even the Sega inspired version had me going off!!
This is awesome dude! Watching you talk about music is honestly (no diss to your other videos) the most I’ve enjoyed your content in a while. This was great
I also want to say this song is perfectly made. Hopeful was exactly what I thought when I heard it, it really helped set the tone that this isn't the end for Mat. Like Steph said, it's just a new beginning.
Your science blaster rendition was so perfect, it added to the closure so well. Thank you foafy:)
Listening to the symphony version you made is giving me major Final Fantasy 6 opening vibes... intentional or not, amazing job!
I'm so excited you made a video breaking down the composition process! The musician part of me was definitely having fun nerding out. Never would have guessed about that string part being an erhu and not a violin. Also, I am extra impressed that you basically film scored that scene because you got the footage ahead of time. That's a whole extra skill unto itself. I've loved all your theorist music work throughout the years. Can't wait to see what you do next! 🙂

I love the way you described the string instruments, cause as a double bassist it’s kinda of true lol 😭
Amazing work on this track. You followed the emotions this send off not only followed, but needed. Just listening i can feel the empathy towards the feelings all of us were going through, and the following reasurance brought with that triumph and buildup. Thank you for helping to create such a memorable finale to a large chapter of so many lives :)
I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve always loved to appreciate music especially when it’s not supposed to be the main focus of something. So I have of course always loved Science Blaster, and I found this orchestral, slow version incredible, and I really wanted to know who is responsible for it and where I can find out more about it and listen to it again. After not much research, I realised that I should come to you in search of these things, but sadly you had nothing on your channel about it. But now I found this and I am so happy and I would like to thank you very much for this masterpiece
That track was beautiful! I've loved seeing your friendship with Matt when you've been on episodes and I just have to imagine that you, with all of your awesome voices and music, have to be one of Ollie's favorites too!
Bore me with technical talk!?!? No such thing! I need to know how music stuff works, but especially of my favorite tracks like this one, it's so freakin cool! :} PS, Murder Drones recap before the finale question mark?
I love that you gave us the unused versions. You made a phenomenal cover. I definitely tear up every time i hear it
Seeing how you made the music for MatPat´s final theory was amazing. The Music Man himself, Footofa Ferret!
The full score sounds exactly like a track out of a Final Fantasy game. Specifically a pivotal climactic point of a Final Fantasy game. Love it!
Oh man, I’m catching up on videos so I’m a little late to this vid, but seriously, is there anything better than someone talking about their passions so excitedly?
Wonderful work as usual, I’d honestly love for you to need out more on the music side. Everyone needs to know you own that Paramore Riot guitar cause that is such an amazing find!
I was ok watching the video, that scene happened with the music and... oh my, oh my, I started cry like a baby!! So many feelings. Great job Ryder!!!
Thanks for all the videos
THANK YOU! You nailed this piece of music!
That was a solid track man. Amazing work!
Thank you for making on these amazing music pieces for all of the theory channels. When I was back in 8th grade, my music teacher would record some of our practices with LogicPro to hear where we could improve. I did played around with Garage Band for a little bit but I was more used to Logic Pro. Here’s to Tom, Santi, Lee, and Amy for the next gen of theories and MatPat, to fulfill his projects and maybe one day, the theory ideas to Ollie. But that’s just a theory, a Music Theory. Follow the tempo.
As a artist/musician myself mainly in the singing sense, I’m so happy that you did this!!! It was so good, I rarely cry or shed a tear; but it felt like I couldn’t hold back to shed a tear because how well it captured how I felt!! Also please do more videos like this!!!
