Trick: if you choose a round fluffy animal like a hamster you just have to draw a squishy circle with a face and feet lol.

When you're doing more research into the legs of the four legged animals you might also want to pay attention to the different tails they have. You tend to default to "horse" when you don't know and sometimes it's a short fluffy tail instead of a long one. Your art is great as always! It's just setting I noticed

I see deer all the time in my back yard, so it kind of shocked me that she didn't really know what they look like, especially the tails, but I get it, everyone grows up in different places, and pays attention to different animals, still love you Rin!

I love Rikki-Tikki-Tavi but I never even knew what a mongoose looked like until today! He's so cuteeeee!

From what I remember he fights a snake and mongoose are known for killing cobras so that would make sense

There are even-toed and odd-toed ungulates. Horses only have a single hooved toe on their feet, so they are odd-toed. You are using your horse experience to draw even-toed ungulates (like moose, who have two hooved toes). That's where the confusion is happening.

As someone who is in love with moose, when you drew the horse-like tail, it killed me😂you still did great with this video! I love the idea of simplifying everything!

25:30 "Pfft" When you look at it and find it hilarious, means you did a great job regardless of the resulting image.

Rin: "What the heck is a shrew?!?" **proceeds to draw Gonzo from The Muppets** 🤣🤣

I think the horse sketches would benefit from having a more defined chest area. Their necks don't really go in such a straight line into their legs, they have kind of a bulge where their chests are. -sincerely, a horse girl who basically only drew horses from age 5-15

At this point, I think it would be fun to see a compilation of Rin drawing out of frame by accident

When drawing a wombat imagine it has no tail as it is just a stump of a tail any ways! I love our Native Australian animals spesh Kangaroos and Wallabies! Love your channel Waffles (Rin) and how you venture out of your comfort zone now and then... I've been in a drawing slump for the last 5 years and my cousin wants me to help her design a character for her am nervous I don't want to let her down 😔

the zebra and crab are my favs. my level of animal art. :) but actually I like them all. I can't draw animals for some reason. super fun video.

I started watching you like 1 month ago and I'm literally obsessed with your videos. I used to draw a lot during high school but then bad stuff happened and I stopped. Your videos inspired me so much that I finally grabbed my pencils after years and I feel like I found myself again. I've forgotten how happy making art makes me feel. Rin, from the bottom of my heart thank you, you don't know how much this means to me.

Just tried it: harder than it looks and than I thought. But good idea, thanks! I got opossum, salamander, armadillo, bumble bee and elephant. Not even very hard ones, I guess, but the result... well, there is room for improvement.

The way I learned how to draw hooved animals (and cats and dogs because their legs work somewhat similarly) is by drawing my little ponies. It's funny rin's brain went to the same place for reference

As a hedgehog pet parent, I approve of your hedgehog 😌❤️ They do have tiny curly tails and are surprisingly flexible (or unsurprisingly) with pretty longish legs that they never show (unless they wanna escape bathtime)! They are EXACTLY like a spiky turtle mouse

The Rikki Tikki Tavi film was something I loved as a kid so seeing you mention it (even as a vague memory lol) made me make happy noises. This video was a treat to watch as a major animal lover, great art!

YES FINALLY SOMEONE DRAWS A MEERKAT!! They do not get enough recognition as my favorite animal I wish they were appreciated more.

I absolutely loved this! If you're looking for a reference point for animals I think the opening sequence of the 1994 Lion King has great examples of representing a diversity of animals in a cohesive style that are still easy to identify!

Ahhh all the animals look so good! And this inspired me to come out of my comfort zone and try drawing other animals (I mostly draw canines and felines). Thank you for making your videos so inspirational and so very enjoyable! :D💚

Deer and moose have short little bob tails on big ol' badonk booties, not long mane-like ones like horses! That'll go a long way towards making your quick sketches of the doe and moose look instantly more recognizable. ♥️

You should consider reviewing the “Caliart” fine tip markers and the “Caliart” brush tip markers! I have the fine tips, but I recently found out about the brush tip version and I think it would be really cool to get your opinion on these!

As an Australian i have to say thats not a bad first attempt at drawing a wombat; especially when you didn't even know it existed previously. If you want a challenge, maybe try a few more Aussie animals - kangaroo, koala, bandicoot, emu, platypus, bilby, echidna and others?
