I know some day when I hear him, I won't be sad, but these days I still smile when I hear him, but then smile turns upside down.
Another UK fan, you helped me out again John. RIP.
My favorite songwriter for sure.
RIP John Prine
"Prime Prine" was a great way of introducing yourself to his music! I learned to play guitar by listening to his records and in recent years tried to thank him for that, but I don't think my message ever actually reached him.

Wow. I never heard the song until the Tree of Forgiveness. Just heard him sing it at the Opry House in Nashville on New Year's Eve. It's been stuck in my head for months. LOVE IT
I love you John Prine, and love lasts a lifetime. ♡
@jordanthecat Same here. I found John Prine fall of '73 and it was a perfect fit. I had been playing guitar a while but not musically talented. Then John Prine revealed what I had been missing. His music, his words, his heart. Dylan (called him the best songwriter on the scene) and Prine were all I ever needed.
I found John during the pandemic. Don't recall him being a big deal here in the UK although I'm sure many others knew of him. So sorry I missed him during my growing years.
I just wished I would have got to know John Prine and his songs much earlier when I was spending a lot of time in the US. But, better late than never
From the first song I ever heard (Paradise, in 1974) he has been an anchor. And he still is.
A truly amazing song. I watched this about 100 times, with no exaggeration. Another Prine song to play, just wish I could pick.
I'm one of if not the only people in the UK my age to have heard this version of this song. How lucky can one man get

My daily dose of John prime.love this man and his music.you are missed🌹🌹🥰
He helps me through alot. Bless his soul.
King Prine! Holding court. Would that we were all born with his brain chemistry. 😂 Play him when you're feeling down, he certainly wasn't.
So true. A buddy of mine, a die-hard Stones and AC/DC fan, listened to a Prine CD I'd burned for him a number of years ago, and has since become a huge John Prine fan.
I've seen John in concert many times over the years, but I don't recall ever hearing him play this song. I can't understand why really, because it's such a great song.
This just stabs me right in the heart
They sure sounded great together...Some righteous pickin'....
Awesome Lyrics!!! ❤ Love this song!!! ❤ His unique voice is captivating and he reminds me of Blaze Foley another unique singer, song writer I love!

It was clear to me that Stephen was totally in awe of John Prine, for excellent reason.
How lucky am I met by finding this song at this poignant time in life.
God Bless John Prine
if your are a musician God bless you...cause. you realize the magic you possess when you can bridge the gap playing for people from other countries who dont speak english but they love American musicians. Prines songs can do that.
Wow I got to have this. I have seen him 2 times in the past 10 years. Wonderful, just wonderful!!!!!!!
MTV Unplugged never had him? What an utter loss. Remember, this unplugged acoustic is 1980, a full 10 years before MTV Unplugged.
I love John Prine
Saw him 11 times. It was not enough.
Wow..you can pick Sir...my favourite sound in music...hope you enjoyed embellishing more beauty on those beautiful songs and fleshing out John Prines music!
How lucky can we get to listen to this great cut. Thanks.
What a sweet and nostalgic video.
I miss you John Prine!!!! Forever fan
Man!!! That gets me every time Thanks
When I'd play one of his songs (espec. Sam Stone or (surprise) Christmas In Prison, some one person would always say, "who is that??". That must have happened so many times across the usa and the world since. What a great legacy and an eternal gift. God Bless John Prine (and Steve Goodman, and Johnny Cash, RIP.)
thanks for finding this classic vid!
RIP John we all miss you dearly.
That wandering leg makes me laugh and want to watch him play "Lake Marie" next. Years and years of loving John Prine.

This rendition outshines the version on 'Pink Cadillac'.
Burns' lead is a beautiful accompaniment
colbert bump ...:) Today I walked down the street I use to wander Yeah, shook my head and made myself a bet There was all these things that I don't think I remember Hey, how lucky can one man get. I bronzed my shoes and hung from a rearview mirror Bronzed admiration in the blind spot of regret There was all these things that I don't think I remember Hey, how lucky can one man get.
