How Long Does It Take For A1c To Go Down?

Get the Highest Quality Electrolyte euvexia.com . How Long Does It Take For A1c To Go Down? How long to lower A1c is something a lot of patients ask. They also ask, "Can you lower your A1c overnight? Or does it take longer for your blood glucose to go down?" Dr Ekberg explains how long and fast to expect your blood sugar and glucose levels to lower and how your A1c test levels will correspond.
Ketogenic diet (Keto) and Intermittent fasting (IF) can help lower your blood sugar levels naturally, but sometimes it will feel like they are not working. In this video you will learn why the A1c test doesn't look like it is correct.
If you are insulin resistant or a diabetic type 2 you will definitely want to watch this video to see how fast you can lower your blood sugar levels and A1c. By learning this you will save money with testing your blood, and if you are not taking insulin you won't have to test your blood as much.

What did you eat and how often did you eat. I am helping my wife change her diet and promised to help her from 11.1 A1c to 5.6 in three months. She went from 362 fasting glucose to 141 in two weeks, but it jumped back to 171 today. We kept the same low carbs and work out, but don't know why it jumped up today. Did you experience lows and highs in your glucose on your way to 4.7? Really hope you respond and congratulations. That must have been awesome to see!

My A1-C was at 7.5 on Feb.15, 2022 and on Jun 1st it was 4.9. I followed all your advice and lost 20 lbs. Cut out all sugar and bread and most anything that had carbs. I'm back to normal A1-C but I'm still going to stick with the new diet based on the Keto plan. My doctor was very impressed and wanted to know how I did it. Thank you !!

In Nov 2018, my A1C was measured as 14. I was put on insulin shots and medication. After this, I made huge changes to my diet, reducing my intake of high net carbohydrate foods dramatically. Two and a half months later A1C went down to 5.4. I was so surprised. Off the insulin shots and down 60 pounds after 4.5 months.

100 days ago I went to my Primary Care group with a BG of 452 and an A1C of 14. At the time I did not know what was wrong with me. I knew that I had a family tendency to become diabetic. My two siblings both have diabetes. I was urinating hourly around the clock. I was unable to ride my bicycle very far without leg and other body cramps. In two months I had lost 14 lbs without trying to lose weight. My PA immediately put me on Metformin and daily insulin injections. I cut all added sugars in my food completely and ate only white toast as my only white carb. After a few weeks I cut out the white bread completely. My diet includes eggs, beans, greens, avocados, some healthy meat, butter, cheese, an occasional sweet potato, and lots of nuts, . My only fruits were berries, such as blueberries. Two weeks ago I stopped taking insulin completely. My A1C test a few days ago was 6.8. As described in the video I expect it to drop considerably by the time of my next appointment with my PA in two months. Along with the vastly improved A1C I realized other health benefits. My vision had been deteriorating a lot over the past two years. It was a huge thing to have my clear vision return completely within a few weeks of going on this eating regimen along with exercise. I am back to cycling over 100 miles each week with no muscle cramping and I have plenty of energy without taking supplements such as gels during a bike ride. This approach to eating works!

I had an A1C of 15.7 and a glucose count of 467. This was on 15 May 2019. I went keto omad and after a week my glucose was at 123. In 3 more days I was at 100. I then went carnivore and my glucose has been running between 75 and 95. I have started longer fasts and just finished a 3 day fast. I refused metformin and insulin. I also started walking and I train with kettlebells and body weight movements. I'm 62. My glucose seems to have leveled out now during a fast which tells me my body has reset and my liver is producing glucose more like it should. During an earlier 2 day fast it got down to 67 although I felt absolutely fine and had a killer kettlebell workout that day. I only check glucose twice a week now. My next A1C check is on 12 August. Big pharma can go to hell.

Thank you for your EXCELLENT content. I have learned so much from you. At 51 years old, I weighed in at 372 and suffered from chronic pain, migraines and no energy. Life was miserable and I felt hopeless things would ever change. I started the Whole30 on Oct 15, 2019 and ate low carb for that first month. The change was miraculous. On Nov 15th (After the 30 days),I transitioned to keto. My starting A1C was 5.8 and fasting blood sugar 117. On Jan 29, 2020 (3.5 months from my changed eating), my A1C dropped to 4.8 and my fasting glucose to 98. In that same timeframe, I lost 64 lbs. Changing the way I eat has given me my life back. ❤️

I am 71 yrs of age. In 3 months I reduced my A1c reading from 6.9 to 6 without any medication. I had already stopped drinking regular soda with sugar a few years ago and almost ate no bread even before that. But I still needed to get off all the sugary processed food, including flour, pasta and rice, and any high-carb fruits. I started exercising at the gym 3 days a week, lost 10 Ibs. and tried some intermittent fasting. I don't know what helped me the most to lower my blood sugar, but I will continue with this formula. Sadly my mother died of diabetes complications. But who says diabetes can't be beaten. Thank you for this video.

I'm following your advice. I'm 5'8" male that weighed 234 and diagnosed pre-diabetic and taking max dose of Meloxicam and Lovastatin daily...getting worse day by day. I started IF/Keto and progressed to OMAD/Keto within 2 weeks, and working-up to 30 minutes of mild aerobic stationary bicycle per day. In 30 days I lost 22lbs, my blood glucose is down to "normal levels". My BP and resting pulse are now at "optimal" levels. My pain pain and swelling (inflammation/arthritis) has receded to manageable levels and are getting better day by day. I stopped taking the medications at 30 days and feel better each day. I feel 10 years younger already (I'm 59)! Thank you for educating me on insulin resistance and how to stop and reverse the damage. I am all in on this lifestyle change. I go back to my doctor for a check-up and blood work in 4 months. I can't wait to see his face when the results come back! Edison Pearce 02/13/2023.

Thank you so much for all your lectures/teaching - you help me enormously! This lecture has been especially helpful in setting realistic expectations. I cut sugar, bad fats and processed food almost completely about a year ago but didn’t lose much weight, and checking bg levels w/finger sticks caused those finger tips to go numb so I stopped checking. Still my A1C went from 800’s to 700’s and my doc told me about and prescribed the Free Style Libre 14 day monitor. Now I can measure bg as often as I like and adjust my food intake accordingly. I still wasn’t losing wt like I’d hoped so began water fasting 1/2 of each week and eating 1 meal/day the other half and started losing about 2 pounds a week and lost a total of 75 pounds. Although I am not a beast - don’t have to eat b/c grelin’s been activated and I can do really hard things I began finding it really hard (seemingly impossible) to water fast and in about 3 wks gained back 15 pounds, only eating the same healthful foods, one meal a day most 6/7 days a week. My bg has also been much harder to keep between 70 and 100 on this regimen. Apparently, for me, water fasting is also necessary and just needs to be part of how I do life as a 73 year old with Type II Diabetes. Thank you again for your teaching and inspiration!

Diagnosed April 11th at 12.6 A1C. Did NOT do Keto diet. But did change. Had ZERO sugar, ZERO fast food, ZERO steaks and ZERO fried foods. I kept eating carbs and changed to sourdourgh bread (almost daily eating sourdough). Changed to fish 3-4 times a week, lots of salads and veggies as well for dinner, once a week I make a chicken an vegetable stir fry with SUGAR FREE stir fry sauce, FAGE yogurt with blueberries and strawberries squished in every other day for breakfast. I even still enjoy an Islands hamburger every week for lunch (wheat bun of course). I take a raw tblspn of extra virgin olive every morning after breakfast a tblspn of apple cider vinegar with water EVERY day b4 dinner and a cup of hibiscus tea with 1/2 tspn of cinnamon EVERY day around 9 pm...August 1st, my A1C was down to 5.6. When I went to the hospital on April 11th, I weighed 209 lbs, today I am down to 185

2 months ago I had my blood test due to chronic liver issues. My A1C isn’t as high as most people who had commented but it was close to 9. My dr and I had a chat and she recommended to put me on meds. I refuse knowing that it’s probably the food I ate over past 2 yrs if not more. I started into a training program for weight lift and also saw dr Ekberg’s video about glucose, carbs and other similar video in regards to healthy eating. I watch all the food I’m eating looking at the calories and carbs. After 2 months of training and eating more healthy than ever, My A1C drop to 6. Along with my other lab results. What’s even more amazing is my triglyceride drop from 500+ to normal 60+. I’m very thankful for dr Ekberg’s explanation of how things we eat works in the body. I will need another lab in 6 months and I hope to achieve my goal of being normal range of healthy and drop my fat weight and gain muscle.

Thanks for this explanation. I recently made some lifestyle changes and wasn't sure how long before I started getting better numbers. It's only been a month. Your chart explained it well...blood sugar is still high, but heading down....A1C only a little. I am going a little different route by reducing carbs, but not going full on keto. I've done it in the past and lost quite a bit of weight, but for me personally, keto wasn't a "lifestyle" diet. I am keeping my carbs below 150 grams per day and I am seeing weight loss and blood sugar improvements which I am happy with. Keto really limited the things that I thought were good, such as fruit. I don't eat added sugars, I don't drink sodas (diet or otherwise) and I have enough variety in my diet to keep me on track.

Thank you for this video! I just had my A1C tested and it was 8.4. I am using an insulin pump and my doctor believes I have more insulin resistance now due to added weight around my stomach area. I have changed my diet to one with low carbs and will let you know the results in about a month! I also have a left frozen shoulder and a cortisone shot isn't allowed until I am under an 8. This gives me a lot of hope that I can have this closer to a 7 in a month!

The problem with an insulin pump (other than the implications that one is needed) is sure, it’ll control your blood sugar if it “works” but insulin itself makes you more insulin-resistant as well as being the fat storage hormone, as the most commonly known major function. If your doctor believes it’s the weight that caused the insulin resistance and not the other way around, you should find a better doctor.

Depends how much and how long you exercise. If you exercise daily, less than a month. With HIIT even less. Sweating is also very important. Hard exercise seems to burn up the sugar or glycosolated red cells at a faster rate. Marathon runners or triathletes almost never have diabetes. That should tell us something. In my personal experience taking up hard cycling daily will vastly speed up the process. I ride 10-15mi/day and whenever my numbers get out of whack I found that hitting the cycling harder each day lowers the numbers within a week or two. Not to 4.8 but close enough. Consider doing an all-day cycling trip or a short 2-3 bike packing trip. Pedal and sweat all day and you will see improvement. Cycling burns 600 calories/hour and after half a day, you are burning any and all reserves the body can find.
