We are testing the Jackery Explorer 880 battery pack inverter with our EV speaker set up. This is the full video checking in at 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, and 2 hours. We are powering a Yamaha 10-channel mixer, four subs, and two tops off the battery pack. This pack is a 1000-watt continuous, 2000-watt peak, and a calculated run time with this system of 4-5 hours. The music played between 105 and 110 Db at the song's peak. This level could be heard about 1/4 mile away on a calm fall day.

I measured wattage draw for my speakers. ONE of my Bose L1 Pro16 draws about 200-300 watts at 25% volume... which is pretty loud, but not dance floor loud. If I have both going at 25% volume, I would be looking at about a 500 Watt Ave continuous draw. I would def need a larger capacity battery.

One thing, if you can get a car charger for the laptop it would help. You lose energy with every conversion, so converting up to 110-120VAC then back to 20VDC for the laptop loses more energy than if you convert once from 12VDC to 20VDC.

If I connect my Speaker to my XDJ XZ, then my XDJ XZ to a generator, will the Generator need the wattage power to cover the Speaker? Even though the speaker runs on battery? The 500 has a different inverter than the 1000. One can handle a continuous AC pull of 500 watts while the other 1000 watts. So most likely the Jackery is shutting down when you ask for more than 500 watts. Probably some heavy bass hit. So the 1000 model will last longer and can handle a much larger load. For DJing purposes, I would say a 1000 watt inverter is what is needed. Now for a ceremony or cocktail system. A 500 will work.

any of them could run that system at ceremony/cocktail volumes.. it is a question of how long you need them to run.. those 2000 watt speakers in reality pull about 20-100 watts of power.. 20-50 at ceremony or cocktail levels, and up to 100 watts in dance floor levels... I would estimate your 'watts per hour' would fall under 400 watts/hr... so, if you needed two hours, you would need one with a capacity of over 800 watts..

Just so I can reverse-engineer the wattage requirements, what model subs and tops are you using? Are those EKX-12P's and EKX-15SP's?

@@discjockeynews Thanks!! I'm running a 60-minute outdoor musical theater review - we don't have subs, but up to 4 QSC CP12's and 2 QSC CP8's for monitors, with a Soundcraft Ui24r mixer and 5 QLXD receivers. I'm pretty sure this will be similar or less draw than your sample rig. I had avoided even thinking about battery generators, since in my previously uninformed mind a single 1000W speaker would require a 1000W generator - I see now that's not the case!

Just to follow up for future readers: I calculate the worst-case continuous wattage of your system at 1211 watts (1.8A "at 1/8 power" x 6 EV speakers + 23 watt mixer). Yes, I know your Kill-A-Watt showed a lot less for one stack, but I'm trying to get a worst-case scenario here. At 1211 watts, the Explorer 880 should last only 43 minutes. Obviously, you are getting at least 4 hours. For my system listed above (0.75A "at 1/8 power" loudspeakers), I similarly calculate a worst-case scenario of 824 watts. That works out to 1.21 hours worst-case on a new Explorer 1000; but at the actual rate you were seeing, my system could last perhaps 6.7 hours. Note: I am a novice at this, feel free to point any errors out. Obviously if you were running 1211 watts for any length of time, the Explorer 880 would temporarily shut down.
