This is a masterpiece. I'd always had multiple bottles of cologne but I'd never heard of high priced designer or niche. I went to Neiman Marcus around 10 years ago and tried Creed, Tom Ford, Byredo, etc. I was blown away by Oud Wood, tobacco vanille, and Royal Oud. Now I have a well curated collection of nearly all niche and S33 and the ones I mentioned are my favorites. Lately I've been digging DS Durga, Kilian classics and Italian niche/indie houses.

Agreed! And I remember being blown away by Tobacco Vanille around 10 years ago as well from this little sample that was given to me. I had a TV bottle but ended up selling it to a friend because I had been wearing Vanille Havane more frequently. I'm still on the hunt for a Royal Oud bottle....glad they finally started giving credit to the perfumers that worked on Creed perfumes. I have about 9 D.S. & Durga's at the moment (6 of them being the Studio Juices). I think your next rabbit hole you need to go down into is the brand Les Indemodables. I think you'll enjoy it.

@@patchoulipapi best discovery last year was Histores 1828. What I've been doing lately is focusing on genres. I just completed citrus scents. I believe I've samples and purchased some of the best citrus fragrance on the market. I love soapy fragrances so I've tried dozens, most recently a bottle of Pengaligon's Castile. I still need to try Paper Soap by J-Scent, and Naviglio Milano Fragranze. I also love Barbershop fougeres and I can never get enough of them. Best one I've tried so far is MDCI Invasion Barbare.

Same thing happened to me. I was at a gig and I could intermittently smell a beautiful cedar. I kept asking the guys at my table if they could smell it. Finally found the guy wearing it and demanded he tell me what it is. That was Santal 33. It's still in my number 1 spot (unshakable and no pickles). Then, much like yourself I started to research perfumes and perfumers. I also knew I love patchouli so hit the samples hard before I found Psychedelique by Jovoy, Tempo by Diptyque and Ursa by Tiziana Tirenzi. Then 21 Conduit Street by Jovoy.

What border town are you from? I’m from Laredo so that part of your story really resonated with me.

I've smelled 33 off tourists down in Waikiki. Good on you...Keep the faith on what you love;)...re: the precious 15 ML gift,..I can't believe you got a refund for it...And, 15 ml is not a small amount. It would've lasted til the bigger bottle. Anyway, her gift, more than served it's purpose... What year would you say, 33 reached it's apex in terms of hype in New York City?

I know! I should have kept the 15ml gift and bought another bottle…but I just couldn’t stomach her having to pay $85 for that amount when I could get a 50ml size for like $115. Hmmm I wanna say peak was probably 2018 or so I would say! I honestly don’t smell it on many people out and about.

I like the review but your tone and cadence makes it feel a bit like an apology video. Jokes aside, the format is pleasing and feels like an open discussion not just another review and breakdown.

When people say ‘dill’ I wonder why is it taken as if it is a bad thing? It is amazing! Dill + cucumber for me but otherworldly!

It's an American association. Since they are the only group of people that eat dill pickles. The scent comes from, and it is the "papyrus note", which smells green.

@@patchoulipapi I think you did a fabulous job articulating yourself with this informative video. I admire anyone who is brave enough to speak for a public audience to listen to.... I'm terrified so I respect and encourage others like yourself to continue.... Can I ask, is this only a men's fragrance?
