La Duree makes such great macarons … for newbies and tourists that is. Those in the know don’t go there; they buy their macarons at Pierre Herme or Carette

Pierre Hermé are not good now, by wanting to please everybody, they reduced the taste of each flavor. And you should try yourself, eat one of them without knowing the taste, and you won't be able to tell what it is, if it's not caramel/chocolate/vanilla

@Khaled Alanani Thank you. You said what I was going to. Its a tourist trap. Even in the US, if youre in a decent sized city you should be able to find a real French pâtisserie owned by a French pâtissier that has pastries and macaron made in house and light years better than anything at Laduree. I know my US city has 2 really great ones, both owned and operated by French expats. Laduree is high end the way people think Godiva chocolate is high end. Maybe it was at one point. But nowdays its all mass produced and relies on branding and hype to give the illusion of quality.
Best gift I’ve ever gotten, and I’ve been in love with them since!

I’ve had these in Paris and there are many macaron shops that are just as good and cost way less. So it’s overpriced and more a brand thing than anything else.

I literally thought Laduree was a fashion store until this video.
Claudia should have narrated this one.
A greedy, feral little animal part of me wishes macarons didn't have to be so expensive or laborious to make, because they are one of those foods that give me the deep urge to scarf down dozens of them in one sitting with wild glee
Believe it or not. I never had a Macaron. I guess, I am too cheap to buy one. lol And I live in the tri-state area. And I've walked pass by Ladurée so many times.
Not a single one of the ingredients he listed were expensive enough to justify 3 dollars for a mediocre cookie.

Ingredients, baking process, and a LOT spent on marketing. The tricky part is to get both shells the same size, but that is managed by a machine.
So this is what Mattia Binotto is doing now
Thank you for the correct pronunciation. It’s not macarOOn people😅
Macaon
you kinda know they're simple to make if zero process is shown .. it's an almond, egg white, and sugar base, then add a colouring to suit the flavour .. filling can be jam, nutella, chocolate, or whatever can be blended .. it's not rocket science and the scalability and daily production at various locations achieving comparable outcomes proves that .. this is just a clip about brand marketing basically
@Madillusionist

I was also shocked at how simple the ingredients were when my friend taught me the recipe. But I have to admit there's some skill involved with quite a bit of manual work that it is not something everyone would want to do at home. But at the same time I've avoided buying overpriced macarons nowadays.

Id their feet don't look too nice and neither do the bottoms of their shells. I'd be pretty disappointed. Especially since they say they use the italian meringue... the feet should be much more uniform and consistent using that method. The biggest fraud is the marketing that these are “hibernating” between Switzerland and whichever country you’re buying them from. There are local more prestigious patisseries that make them on premises or in kitchens just a few blocks away. Pierre Herme make absolute God Tier macarons. Laduree are like the McDonald’s of Patisserie’s, greggs chocolate eclair is en par with Laduree…
I was about to say... 3200 a day was kinda low? That's under $100k per year and with at least 10 employees and overhead cost, with machines and outsourcing recipe materials, you'd go bankrupt in 6 months tops. 10k per day would just barely make you profitable, 40k per day would put them at multimillion per year.
