Interesting that they actively encouraged mental activity beyond the basics of the job and it’s all self reported and self determined. Never thought that would be part of how they operate but it seems obvious now.

So it’s clear they do understand the advantages that come with freedom, given with a space, yet it’s more important them as a whole to maintain control of their culture and the individual freedoms of their people. Amazing. You would assume this is a man born and raised somewhere in the Mid-West
lol embed code in pdfs. This is 20 years ago. It' not like this now. Barsky is old school and we have respect for what he is saying, but the spy craft has changed. Now you can have a folder on your pc that you can drop a file into that gets mixed into multiple channels, social, email, a text message, and it all looks seamless and looks like it never happened. You can transfer a message by viewing posts on a foreign website on knitting and a the recipient can reassemble it from the post id's and the order you looked at them. Even the time between the posts can mean something. Dead drops are not a thing anymore. It's all digital now.

Barsky actually rated the show to be extremely realistic, except for the fact that it is very unlikely that ALL of it happened to the same couple.

He’s German. He was recruited by the KGB when he was still in the university in the East Germany. I remember reading he was a very good chemistry major and if he had stayed on his original course of life, he could have had a tenure as a professor in the university.

@Friedman Barsky claims he "beat them every time", in regards to winning over ISR and such. if such were true, he'd not have successfully gotten caught via the FBI through measures, etc... Let him gloat nonetheless. His story doesn't add up.

You either missed the other bits of the interview or you did not listen carefully. There, he clearly said that he stopped his countersurveillance measures about 3 months after he quit. That was in 1988. He got caught by the FBI almost ten years later.
