    Tonight is my very first jui jitsu class at a machado academy. Never done any kind of training before BUT this is my next step after losing 100lbs in 7 months. Currently at 260 so some way to go yet but I’m sure bjj can help with that…super nervous but ready to roll

    I think it all depends on the BJJ school. I'm in 4 months 3 times a week. No stripes and I'm totally fine with it as I know that I'm just at the beginning of a beautiful journey. There's tons to learn and the possibilities are endless. A colleague of mine is 1.5 years into it, got gold medals and has 3 stripes on his white belt...

    @@Dashooter911 I know some here will say that I'm just "jealous" but I'm not. I have 3 stripes on my white belt too, but I train 6x a week, roll every night 6 rounds, and have won gold, silver and bronze in both GI and NOGI, and I've been training for 10 months. I like that it takes a longer time to earn my stripes because then I know I deserved them. I don't want my blue belt until at least 2 years of training. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm old school.

    check out that joey diaz podcast, he does the same thing. sometimes will drive half way there or even get to the parking lot and leave. the people really help make the difference; if your gym crowd sucks, perhaps there's another in your area? mine has overweight people too. a lot of individuals, myself included, battled weight issues.. treat it like AA, "keep coming back, it works!"

  • @MrCmon113

    Being fat is awesome in bjj. People can't put you into triangle, they can't close their guard properly, if you're on top, they have to tap from the weight alone. Can't do a choke, because two chins protect the neck.

  • @MrCmon113
    @MrCmon1132 жыл бұрын

    Why would you lose weight going into bjj? My weight is my number one weapon. If you can just get on top, you can chill there and you'll eventually tire them out.

    Lol I lose weight so easily when I'm consistent, and that's without even watching what I eat. Today was my 1st day back after 3 months. Going back only because I want to lose weight without watching my diet. Kinda crazy when you think about it. I would rather get smashed for 90 mins vs trade my burger for grilled chicken.
