How Jessica Chastain Develops a Character
Ойын-сауық
Jessica Chastain takes her roles very seriously, to the point that she won't even bring a script to set. She needs to know her character inside and out before coming anywhere near a camera.

What she's talking about is taught to theatre actors. She has a strong theatre background before film. I learned that method in my college theatre class. I used to have to hand in an acting journal at the end of the semester full of notes including descriptive lines about the character, what she says, what others say about her as well as interior monologues (we used to have to write them & perform them & fill in lines b/t written monologues in the play with lines of dialogue that is the thought process before she says the actual lines. That's why I tell everyone I know who wants to be an actor to do theatre. There's so much discipline learned.

Theatre performers become the character, actors play pretend. James Gandofini and Heath Ledger had the ability to method into another persona.
It shows. Her characters are so good. She also so obviously only chooses really great scripts.

One of the most defining factors for an actor/actress is knowing what scripts to choose imo. And she clearly knows how to choose. Interstellar will always break my heart with the recorded video calls.

@@starlord6433 we don't talk about those 😂 The point is those 2 she probably did for the money which is totally respectable in my opinion. But she has done tremendous work apart from those 2 bad movies.
I love her voice.

How old are you both, 12? Jesus, she’s such a regular actress... We’re miles apart from, let’s say, Nicole Kidman.
Jessica Chastain has given us so many great performances. She was amazing in Miss Sloane (2016) - I was shocked that film and Chastain didn't get more praise. Unbelievable characterisation - so intense.
not only insanely talented and beautiful, but so helpful and open about her process. i'm inlove.
She has the best voice
Very nice interview and a great example of Sanford Meisner technique in its purest form. Thank you for this video.

She's a truly brilliant actress. Zero Dark Thirty, and what she did in that film, continues to astound me.
She is so amazing.
One of this generation's finest actors. I only regret catching on so late (Zero Dark Thirty). Need to go back and watch some of her earlier stuff.
I love hearing smart, accomplished people talk about how they approach things. Especially when it's clear that they work hard and with intentionality. Even though her milieu is not really anything close to what I do, hearing her thought process gives me ideas on how to approach what I do.
Acting has been referred to as 'strange'. I sort of begin to see why. Taking on the dimensions of another character, rather like putting on a a dress and becoming it. You are then not you, you are the dress. It's interesting to see a script become dimension, rather like strings of DNA. It gives me a perspective. When an actor does a nude scene of some nature, they are then not them, but that character. They drive the character under direction.
Destined for greatness...to be a legend.
Interesting, She seems like she’s ‘grand’ acting in this interview. Hey whatever works, Jessica is amazing in all she does!

what does grand acting mean
Really good interview. Might make a video about her soon 🤔
she is insanly beautiful
One of the most talented actress I've watched in past years.
Her Celia Foote was totally mind blowingly, painfully sweet.
She's amazing!
I seriously can't believe how beautiful she is. She can do anything with that face.
My same thoughts process lol
One of the most beautiful out there ...
JC to me as an actress has always come across as Detective like in her acting. She never phones it in, like Oscar Issac.
Oh to be a different person. Or at least all my best ever attributes from birth to now except in the same time.

Jessica Chastain doesn't age
i'd love to work with her God
If you don't see the Lana del Rey aesthetic and energy that Jessica has you must be blind or dead or both.

Very full of herself.

You sound jealous or just plain ignorant. She is being interviewed about her craft. Would you prefer she talk about her favorite foods? Please stop being a simpleton. If you are not interested in intelligent conversation, go back to your video games.
