But many of these rich people want to do more than just buy luxury stuff, they want to change humanity for the better. Like bringing satellite internet to everyone, making us into a multi-planetary species, space mining for resources, reversal of biological aging, robots that can do our work, fusion energy etc. All these things are great, but they require incredibly large amounts of money. These billionaires have peanuts if you look at it from that perspective. And they are funding things that the government would never fund. I think it is great that some people have such large fortunes, so those kinds of challenges can be done.

What’s crazy is people complain that a man like this has this much money and how it’s all unfair, yet can’t be arsed to put in the work or take the risks to try and build a company like Amazon, yet seem to think that someone like Jeff Bezos who has done all the hard work now owe them something or should just be giving their wealth away.
