@@thecomment9489 have u seen the latest survey on extreme poverty in india it has decreased in a whooping amount. Yes I do know poverty has increased but that is role of state government which they belong to, to take care of them. Also the central government's scheme provides loan for households and or even provide homes but state government as we all know would take a certain percentage of commission on it and only 2 out of 10 people can be benefited from it. And we do have a responsibility to address our state to take actions rather than protesting for unwanted matters which ultimately makes the MNCs to change their hub from there to other countries and joblessness follows with poverty. First understand the function of people and state and state with central and our role in it. If u have any better solution for this, I'm all ears

Most other stakes in big Indian comps are under 5% except in tech space. In Flipkart and Paytm, Softbank owns around 20% of each. In OLA and Oyo around 17%.

Japanese has been by far the biggest investor in India. Even during hard times when India was struggling with Financial stability, Japanese were the first ones to come forward and save us. Truth be told, japan's economy is only going to go downhill from here and out so now they are trusting on their friend whom they have been helping for years to come forward and help them in future. India will become one of the biggest economic powerhouse and japan wants to ride that wave(nothing wrong with it as they have helped us multiple times). It is time for india to repay their faith to the country who believed in us when no other country did.

The relationship between India and Japan is historic. Going back to the influence of Buddhism exported from India to Japan. More recently during the post WW II Tokyo Trials, Indian jurist Radhabinod Pal played a crucial role to protect Japanese from retribution sought by the Western powers. This was very widely appreciated by the Japanese who commemorated this gesture. The Yasukuni Shrine and the Kyoto Ryozen Gokoku Shrine have monuments specially dedicated to Pal. Finally Indians in general trust Japan a lot more than the Europeans, which is not surprising given the colonial legacy.

At the end of the Showa era, Japan abandoned the predatory Co Prosperity Sphere and grew corporations at home (e.g Sony, Panasonic, Toyota) which became multinational corporations. These Japanese corporations when pursuing their goals post world war 2 put fair competition, research and development, consumer interface and satisfaction, quality control and quality build and so on before nationalism, technology theft and in cutting corners in their product (this is opposite to what CCP China has done). Not only has this made Japan sustainably rich, but their brand names very well known and respected globally for decades.

I think you have got a lot of facts wrong. Japanese Investments in Indian companies is actually pretty small compared to US equity funds or other sovereign funds. One of the reason is also the bad experience of companies like NTT in telecom & Daichi in pharma. Except Softbank in the startup space (again the only participant) the traditional japanese investors are slow and conservative. Most of the japanese Investments are in the auto sector of japanese auto companies & ancilliaries or in the infrastructure projects like City metros funded by Japanese banks & debt funds. When it comes to the tech sector which is one of the largest exporters of IT services they are not at all present. In the telecom & banking sector again they are no where close to Tamasek or GIC of Singapore. Infact the sovereign funds of Middle east are more successful in investing in Indian companies than Japanese investors right from energy sector to retail & banking. In the energy sector again they are no where to be seen even in the renewable space. Infact in the real estate infrastructure sector again companies from Singapore & US dominate the logistics space while only NTT from Japan is a player in Data center space. Some of the largest investors in commercial real estate are all US based from Blackstone to Brookfield. Japanese funds prefer the long term debt route for most infra projects and avoid private infra developments(marubeni’s investment for an industrial space development is an exception & most probably due to a pre-commitment from Japanese Industrial houses). Even the large airport development & management companies like GMR (Delhi & Hyderabad) has french investor like Group ADP while German company Zurich airport is the developer for Noida & Canadian group Fairfax is the Bangalore airport manager. Infact after US companies entering mostly through the equity markets, private equity funds for the startup sectors & banking(HDFC,ICICI etc), its Singapore which is the largest investor(Airtel,Adani ports etc) from the very early days. Now the sovereign funds of UAE & Saudi are coming to the Investment party far more aggressively than the Japanese. However India as a whole needs to work a lot to get the FDI Investment to a 2-2.5% of GDP from the current poor levels of 1%. China at its peak managed to get FDI investments at 4% of its GDP and other emerging markets are at more than 2% even now. Most of the mauritius & UAE FDI Investments are roundtripping of Indian money.

Its ridiculous to state Japan buying India. Its a good collaboration between the 2. Actually Japan needs India more than the reverse. India is a market of 1.4 billion people with a strong democracy & workforce. Indian people favourably view Japanese. In another 3 years, India will overtake Japan in nominal GDP terms. In PPP GDP terms, India is already twice as big as Japan. It means India already has twice the purchasing power as a country. The two countries will benefit hugely by collaborating to the maximum and the Japanese should be more open to it for sharing technology because thats the only way Japan can counter China as the Japanese economy & wealth will become stagnant without the Indian market.
