People forget how great of a super bowl that was. Some of the greatest individual plays ever, with this one as the best of them all. Probably the greatest game I've ever seen, with the Seattle vs NE super bowl just behind it.
@Gungho73
2 жыл бұрын
It was the big one in a few superbowls this last couple decades that were actually competitive and fun games to watch all the way through. It had great storylines within it. This play wasn't the game decider but it looking back helped write the 2nd half comeback attempt by AZ in a more thrilling light. To me it's maybe the best Superbowl and I am not remotely a fan of either team. It's the play at the end they will likely use during Big Ben's Canton inductment whenever he retires. It was the type of game that helped legitimize Kurt Warner as a hall of famer, and that post season will help recognize Larry one day in the hall as well.

Crazy how both teams had similar identities were and how poorly mismanaged the Steelers are now. Started with the QB a few years back. Ozzie was a far superior GM than Kevin Colbert and it’s showing now.

And, the most fun I had as a exercise programmer and trainer was this guy that was a 30 year old former rugby pro that went to CAL Berkeley and wanted to just get destroyed in workouts. Forced me to be creative and randomize his training blocks. Can't imagine the fun the trainers have with James, if he has any.

Same. Best pick six to end the first half against the Cardinals in SB43.
One of my personal favorite “plays” was when Larry scored his long TD in the Super Bowl and James is chasing him and Troy had to tap him to let him know they’re beat, the fact he was running down field with the safeties as an outside backer
I remember when this play happened, I was at my dad's coworker's house for a Super Bowl party. They had one of those block pools where if you have the last number in the score at the end of the quarter you win money, so for example if you have Steelers 3 and Cardinals 0 and the score is 13-10 at the end of the quarter you win money. Anyway my dad's co-worker had Steelers 0 and Cardinals 7. They were praying for an interception so they could win the money at half time which I think was like $500. James picks that pass off and they start cheering. Then he goes to the 40... The 50... The 40 ... The 30... Their cheers start turning to " No, NO, NO!" Meanwhile being the Steelers fan I am. I'm screaming "Go, GO GO! " He goes in and I start cheering. Everybody is looking at me pissed and my dad was like trying to defend me saying "He's a Steelers fan." Haven't been back to their house since. 😂
There was no time left, so that was a 14pt swing, basically a 14pt play.

All the great steelers defensive players through the years......i unfortunately didnt grow up in the era of the steel curtain but i did grow up during the era of Greg Lloyd,Kevin Greene,Levon Kirkland and chad brown and i always thought Greg Lloyd was the hardest hitting, most ferocious steelers of all time, until James Harrison. Fitz should have been penalized. He had time and space to get back inbounds but stayed out intentionally to get better speed and positioning for the tackle. So any Cards fan who wants to spout that there was any illegal blocking by the Steelers can choke on it. 😉

I played college ball as an Offensive Tackle, 6'5" 280, and I will tell you the dudes that were 6'0" and fast, built like James Harrison, were the toughest to go against. Fast and they would get under you. I always liked playing against the bigger dudes because they were slow and all they did was a bull rush. James Harrison types hit you with a few speed rushes to get you on your heels than work the bull in there and come underneath....good old days.

Harrison's play was a potential 14 point swing in what ended at 4 point game, it absolutely decided the game as much, a game is the sum of its parts. If he doesn't undercut it? Easy TD for the Cards. Doesn't make the entire length of the field? They're still down by 3 on Ben's pitch perfect pass to Holmes, and Warner doesn't have to try to force it down field where he fumbled, Pitt would be in panic mode. The end of the game isn't possible without what Harrison did. I can't see saying a 1 yard TD run at the end of the game for a lead is better than a 99 yard at half that's as a deciding factor as any.
