How Jamaica has HEALED me & why I recommend EVERYONE come and visit Jamaica!!! 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲

Welcome back to another vlog. Come along with me as head to Traveller's Beach Resort to meet up with Throp for my first ever KZread collaboration. On the way home I go to check to see if my OG Jelly Coconut man is awake and I also explain how Jamaica has healed me & why I will forever be grateful for this country.

When my friend visited from UK she was going through a tough divorce that caused her depression and weight gain. The way she was embraced by Jamaicans and complimented about her body made her whole trip. In Jamaica, having "meat on the bones" is a huge flex. She said she felt healed by the land and its people. She comes every year to just recharge. Jamaica is a blessing.

You are right about the beauty standard; the majority of Jamaicans respect people for who they are. You get to be yourself because Jamaicans show you that you are a star who has the right to shine as bright as the next star. Stay true to yourself. Love yourself and know that you have a right to be here. One love.❤🇯🇲🇨🇦 ❤

I stayed at Travellers while in Jamaica last October. It was wonderful. I spent 10 days traveling around Jamaica. 2 days in MoBay; 4 days in Negril; 2 days in Kingston; 2 days in Port Antonio. It was magical. I returned in February of this year and bought a little piece of land in Portland. I plan to build a home there and move to JA permanently in 2 yrs.

Blessup from a Jamaican living in London Uk. Jess you’re not the first visitor to say that they’ve been healed by Jamaica because of the lack of western beauty standards. I was touched by your testimony to the point where it gave me goosebumps, i almost teared up when you almost did Lol and I’ve been saying for the longest time that Jamaicans IN Jamaica, IN being a keyword here because if I’m perfectly honest, this may not be the case all the time with Jamaicans outside of Jamaica but Jamaicans in Jamaica just like you said don’t give damn where you’re from or what you look like. It’s all about your personality or how you endear yourself to them and I’m happy that you were able to feel that and be healed by it. Love and blessings always. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇦🇺🇦🇺❤️

I’m like the “Invisible Man” to them but yet they will quickly jump up, walk over, speak and engage and quickly serve and wait hand and foot on the white patrons, even with a smile and pleasantries🫤 It’s very interesting, yet disheartening to observe and watch this actually happening in my face🫤 One Love, right❤

You are welcome to make this island your home. Remember though, that there are silly people everywhere who are toxic inside and try to find fault and make others unhappy. Thankfully, there aren't many here because we are brutally honest in our speech and will assess them fairly and move on with our enjoyment of life. We are too confident to let one ninny upset us for long.

You're right..we are typically very accepting of people and we allow everyone to come as they are. There are young women and men on the island though, who believe that if they have lighter complexions, they'll get thru the world easier, so they turn to bleaching or other skin lightening techniques. Some say the media caused it, others say it's a lack of self love/self acceptance. This will be a cool but challenging topic for you to explore.

My brother what that all about in a few years the island will be sweeping with skin, liver and kidney cancer from the chemical that the white man cook up to give these people. I want you to look up the after effect of hair chemical on particularly black women. The problem is there were studies highlighting all they issues but what do they care. If black women were bleeding to death each month, stillbirths, ovarian cancers, obsess. I lost my Uterus at 21 my two sisters same age, I was luck I had one kid they had none. Scientist is warning black people about the bleaching cream. In Canada is years in jail if you are caught selling beaching cream to the public due to danger steroids and cancer causing chemicals. I am a medical researcher I know what I am saying.

Most Jamaicans have enough intelligence and self-respect to be proud of their complexion, Those who think that they will succeed by bleaching are delusional and are among a small minority. Bleachers are in fact generally ridiculed and pitied by their fellow Jamaicans. This is mainly because it is associated with backward aspects of the inner-city/ghetto. So "scorned" is the practice that some employers are wary of employing bleachers because of their places of origin or abode. Despite this, outreach programmes have been undertaken by the relevant social agencies to advise of the possible health and other dangers posed by skin bleaching

Currently there is a colourism issue, but there's also a strong vibe which promotes accepting the natural self. Many sisters wear wigs and perms but more and more are locing their hair or just keeping it natural. There is also deep classism too especially in certain regions (class is tied to race iykyk). Despite our efforts to fight this, these are the legacies of colonialism. Body weight and age are not so much of a problem though. As much as we experience colourism tho, probably majority of guys in Jamaica these days naaah medz dat, or maybe it's the ppl I hang out with idk.. One thing I man can say tho.. is that anybody can feel safe roun Rasta

@@lusimyer the bleaching thing is for Vybz Kartel & to make tattoos more visible, the way I man understand it; n InI tend to see it significantly more in the city. Some city youth come live in I area in rural Jamaica still, so that is there to a leeser degree as well. There is also a classism thing associated wid that in J.A as well, although that's an oversimplification tbf

Oh baby girl you almost made me cry. By now you should know that when you are called baby girl in JA is a lot of respect . I am watching from Canada as a Jamaican born in Portland who came here as a child 54 yrs ago. I would suggest you watch Irie Jamaica this is a woman who also had Jamaica changed her live. She went there as a student and now she is a Jamaican citizen. She is from the Ukraine and could not stop smoking and Jamaca did it for her as most Jamaicans don't smoke cigarette....weed YES. She also talked about how Jamaica made her start loving her hair. By the way you are beautiful baby girl , so forget what anyone had say bad in the past about your looks "Jamaica got you now". Why don't you Live there and I promise your self esteem will reach the rooftop. Love light and kindness from Canada.

Wow! Bless up jess, spoken like a true blue-diamond...Very well said, candidly and honestly...Big-ups to Jamaica, yes, you are dwelling with the chosen children who are Highly Favored with the MOST HIGH YAH, and as they bless up you, so will you bless up others...You have a grand-purpose now and may the son of the living YAH walk with you, and keep you and yours in [HIS] outstretched arms. One candle lights another candle, and your candle will light another, and the 💜-beat of [LOVE] goes on and on. Keep smiling and shining as bright as the Jamaican sun. 1-💜ve, may YAH blessings, peace and prosperity continue...🙏💜🙏

Hey Jess. Glad you're feeling healed being in Jamaica. Jamaicans generally love all people no matter size or shape. You will find though, there's also another side to Jamaicans in terms of calling out people for how they look. Generally, if you're thin they will call you that; if you are not on the thin side, they will call you that also, but usually there is no animosity when they do that. It's calling it as they see it generally being brutally honest, but it's never meant in a nasty way. It's definitely a part of the culture which you may have already experienced. Stay blessed.
