The hedgehog can climb that ramp? Or there is some kind of help for them?

Honestly most hedgehogs don’t bother with ramps. But I would say this is not a good ramp at all. I got a custom made one with walls about 4 inches tall. My hutch isn’t completed so I have no idea if they’ll even use the ramp. But it’s sturdy. Thick, smooth, pine kiln which if you’re gonna build a hutch, you’d probably want to start with or Aspen wood. But still a sealant is absolutely necessary as poop and pee gets everywhere and it cannot be cleaned off the wood. I actually came to this video in the hopes I would find what they used as a sealant for as it’s a wooden hutch. Wooden hutches for any not appear to seal it with anything, which is bad not just for bacteria and fungal infections from the pee/poo, but also attracts mites. Well they did not appear to seal it with anything, maybe a clear gloss but that’s toxic to hedgehogs respiratory system. And it looks like they used wood shavings. If you want to go the shavings route, Aspen is the only wood I’d suggest. Or recycled paper shavings. I much prefer the padded fleece liners which brings me to my next point, they’re sensitive paws. Wood splinters. You want something to cover that whether it be chloroplast and shavings or fleece liners. So far all I’m seeing as a good way to treat the hutches is by applying aquarium water (not oil!) based sealant to cover the wood and then aquarium silicone for the corners. Even after doing all that I’m considering using chloroplast on my ramp. And up several inches for each level of my hutch. I also don’t see a heat emitting bulb attached. Thermometers alone don’t do the trick. You want the whole set up, 8.5-10 inch black dome either with clamp or bungee spring for a mesh top hutch like mine, as well as a thermometer with a probe which they did not have, the probe hangs into the cage preferable the middle to see the entire hutch temp. But you also need a thermostat with temp control settings so that it won’t go under or over 72-80 degree Fahrenheit. And if it does. It automatically kicks the lamp on or off. This also has a probe. And I’ve noticed slight and sometimes not so slight deviations with my thermometer. So that’s why both devices are important. Also the bulb is a CHE. Hedgehogs can’t have light except 12-14 hrs during the day which is odd cause they’re almost always in their snuggle sacks hiding out. So idk what the light helps with exactly but many hedgie owners suggest it. I also wanted to hang strip lights in my cage so I can see them at night. Another video did it. And even tho hedgehogs are nearly fully blind, apparently then need complete darkness at night. Some people said if you’re gonna use a light, red will be your best option otherwise. 12-14 hrs per day with as. Much as a desk lamp over them, no lights during the night. Just some suggestions I’ve picked up. I do like the setup of this hutch but I see many flaws and it didn’t really help answer any of my questions. Again most hedgehog wonders don’t even have a ramp or upper level, mg plan was to put the food in the top level with water bottle and a snuggle sack over their fleece liner and leave the entire bottom level for activities like their wheel, foraging bin, tubes to run through. -/ well as a secondary bottle down there so they don’t have to run all up the ramp just to get water while exercising. I plan to stain the ramp to match my hutch color which is gray, and add sealant, but perhaps chloroplast it as well. To make the walls even taller and add an extra level of sanitization. Just not sure how I would go about retaining the grip ridges so my hedgies don’t go sliding. In the end, if might have just have been a waste of money having the ramp to the upper level and I might have to go with a different setup. But this ramp is sooo not safe for a hedgehog. If you’re gonna add a ramp, make it sanitary, make it with ridges so the have traction, and most importantly WALLS! And to give them credit, the area where they put there thermometer was cute but not good enough for a hedgie cage… I’d-redo the entire ventilation and heating system, in addition to type of wood used as some are toxic to hedgies or more prone to mites. And most definitely add a sealant. This is a cute cage setup especially to be made by hand. But needs more modifying for the health of the pet.

Where is the protected entrance for the hedgehog. It needs to be predator proof with easy access from the garden. This looks more like a hamster, Guinea pig house
